Madblast Hiro
I’ve loved hip-hop music and street fashion since high school, and I once thought that if I ever created my own fashion brand, “Mad Blast” would be the perfect name. That was the beginning.
Later on, I combined “Hiro” from my real name, Hiroyasu, and that became my current artist name. In the end, I never launched a fashion brand, but I’ve continued using this artist name for a long time.
Me ha gustado el hip-hop y la moda urbana desde el instituto, y en ese entonces pensé que, si alguna vez creaba mi propia marca de ropa, “Mad Blast” sería el nombre perfecto. Así comenzó todo.
Más tarde combiné “Hiro”, de mi nombre real Hiroyasu, y así nació mi nombre artístico actual. Al final nunca llegué a lanzar una marca de moda, pero he seguido usando este nombre artístico durante mucho tiempo.

What motivated you to get started painting?
De niño me encantaba jugar con bloques de construcción y crear mis propios monstruos y robots. Ese espíritu creativo se ha convertido en parte de mi estilo actual.
Sin embargo, a medida que fui creciendo, dejé de hacer ese tipo de creaciones.
Un día, en la secundaria, vi un programa de televisión que presentaba el arte del graffiti, y me impactó profundamente.
Ese momento me inspiró a empezar a dibujar piezas y tags de graffiti en un cuaderno, y cuando me di cuenta, no había dejado de hacerlo desde entonces.
When I was a child, I loved playing with toy building blocks and spent my time creating original monsters and robots. That sense of creativity has become part of my artistic identity today.
However, as I grew older, I gradually stopped doing that kind of creative play.
Then, in high school, I saw a TV program introducing graffiti art, and it shocked me in a powerful way.
That moment inspired me to start drawing graffiti pieces and tags in a sketchbook, and before I knew it, I had never stopped.

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?
Lo que más me gusta es la gran libertad de expresión.
Poder mostrar mi estilo en espacios públicos, que mucha gente lo vea, y que surja comunicación a partir de eso… es una sensación increíble.
Lo que menos me gusta es lo mucho que depende del clima cuando pinto al aire libre.
Especialmente tener que adivinar si va a llover o no… eso puede ser bastante estresante.
(Esta respuesta se acerca más al Street Art y Mural Art que al graffiti puro.)
What I like most is the incredible freedom of expression.
Being able to have my own style of artwork displayed in public spaces, seen by many people, and the communication that grows from that — it’s the best feeling.
What I like least is how much outdoor painting depends on the weather.
Especially trying to judge whether it’s going to rain or not — that part can be pretty stressful.
(This answer applies more to Street Art and Mural Art than pure Graffiti Art.)

Do you remember the first piece?
La obra que marcó el inicio de mi camino artístico actual fue la primera pieza que dibujé en un cuaderno que tenía en casa, después de quedar impactado al ver arte de graffiti en la televisión cuando estaba en mi segundo año de secundaria.
El cuaderno ya estaba en casa, y utilicé el material que tenía a mano en ese momento, como papelería y lápices de colores.
En ese entonces no era muy bueno dibujando, y todavía tenía la idea fija de que “tenía que dibujar bien”, así que la sensación de poder expresarme con libertad fue increíblemente divertida.
A partir de ahí, empecé a buscar momentos para seguir dibujando piezas en mi cuaderno.
Mi estilo actual es completamente diferente, pero creo que aquella experiencia jugó un papel muy importante en la construcción del estilo que tengo hoy.
The piece that marked the beginning of my current artistic path was the first one I drew in a sketchbook at home, after being shocked and inspired by seeing graffiti art on TV when I was in my second year of high school.
I already had the sketchbook at home, and I used whatever stationery and colored pencils were available at the moment to draw.
I wasn’t very skilled at that time, and I still had the fixed idea that I “needed to draw well,” so the feeling of being able to express myself freely was incredibly enjoyable.
After that, I kept finding time to draw pieces in my sketchbook.
My style is completely different now, but by continuing to draw, I eventually developed my own unique patterns, which led to the style I have today.

Influenciado por las películas de tokusatsu y otros medios similares, me atrae especialmente el motivo del “fuego”.

Influenced by tokusatsu films and similar media, I am particularly drawn to the motif of “flames.”
I incorporate my own minimalized flame patterns into my work, stacking and arranging them like the block toys I played with in childhood.
I continue to pursue expressions that lie between the figurative and the abstract.
It is my dream to have my work displayed on walls in various places around the world.
