Why is your tag Boogie?
Hace alrededor 9 años tuve que cambiar algo en mis graffitis debido a diferentes razones. Me decidí por una especie de reinicio y lo primero que tenía que cambiar era mi nombre. Quería pintar menos croma y negro y me decante a piezas a todo color con mucha diversión y con un estilo funk. Así que me decidí por el nombre de BOOGIE.
Around 9 years ago I had to change something in my graffiti because of different reasons. I decided for a kind of restart and the first thing was to change my name. I wanted to paint less chrome/black and as much as possible full color pieces with lots of fun and funk. So I decided for the name BOOGIE.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?
What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?
Fue un desarrollo a través de los años. Primero era sólo por diversión. Luego se convirtió en una cosa de bombing. Pintar en todas partes lo más posible mi nombre y el nombre de mi crew. Cuando cambié mi nombre también decidí centrarme en la calidad.
It developed during the years. First it was only like fun. Then it turned into this bombing thing. Paint my name and the name of my crew as much as possible everywhere. When I changed my name I also decided to put the focus on quality.
¿Qué tratas de decir con tus graffitis?
What do you try to say with your graffiti?
Quiero dar algunas vibraciones positivas. Y quiero mostrar al mundo que esta forma de arte puede ser una cosa maravillosa.
I want to give some positive vibes. And I want to show the world that this art form can be a wonderful thing.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Simple, legible, colores bonitos y limpios. Mis letras siempre buscan lo simple y lo básico. Pero siempre trato de encontrar la forma perfecta. Eso es un trabajo duro. Y nunca estoy al 100% satisfecho.
Simple, legible, nice colors, clean. My letters always look simple and basic. But I always try to find THE perfect shape. That`s hard work. And I`m never 100% satisfied.

Es una gran colección de artistas increíbles. Y creo que estas páginas webs son las nuevas revistas. En los días atrás hemos enviado nuestras fotos a todas esas revistas impresas. Ahora tenemos la posibilidad de que en pocos minutos las obras sean publicadas en todo el mundo.
It’s a great collection of amazing artists. And I think that these websites are the new magazines. Back in the days we’ve sent our pics to all these printed mags. Now we’ve got the chance that in a few minutes the artworks are published all over the world.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Fue alrededor de los años 1993-1994. Decidí ir a la estación abandonada de tren en nuestro pueblo para pintar allí un graffiti. Algunos días antes un amigo vino y me enseño el primer graffiti que hizo un par de días antes. Me quede flipando al ver esa idea, cogió de una tienda dos botes de spray muy caros, pero malos y se fue allí un domingo por la tarde.
Pinté FREESTYLE. Las letras ‘E’ con reflejos. Todavía sigue ahí (detrás de una enorme pila de madera). A partir de este momento estaba enganchado a hacer más de esas cosas.
It was around 1993/1994. I decided to go to the abandoned train station in our village to paint a graffiti there. Some days before a friend came to me and showed me his first graffiti he did couple of days before. I was flashed by this idea, grabbed two really expensive but bad spray cans in a store and went there on a sunday afternoon.
I painted FREESTYLE. The E’s were reflected. It’s still there (behind a huge stack of wood). From this moment on I was infected to do more of this stuff.
¿Dónde te gustaría pintar?
Where would you like to paint?
Hay tantos lugares en los que nunca he pintado. Me encantaría pintar más murales enormes. Si voy a Moscú, Los Ángeles o Tokio … no importa. Lo más importante es pasar buen tiempo y tener un gran resultado.
There are so many places I`ve never painted. I would love to paint more big murals. If it’s in Moscow, Los Angeles or Tokyo…doesn’t matter. The main thing is to have a good time and a great result.
¿Puedes hablarnos del graffiti en tu ciudad?
Can you talk us about the graffiti in your city?
Hace más o menos 7 años que vivo cerca de Basilea / Suiza – hogar del pionero y héroe del graffiti de todos los tiempos ‘DARE’ (que en paz descanse). El cual es famoso en toda la tierra a nivel mundial. Un montón de nombres famosos pintan por aquí. Puedes ver alrededor de 3 km de piezas llenas de color en 2 o tres alturas. No hay más espacio libre.
En los últimos años (después de la muerte de Dare) algunas cosas han cambiado un poco. Hay más y más de la llamada `sin estilo` por la ciudad. A veces no se puede saber si los tags y el bombing son de niños que utilizan por primera vez un spray o de personas totalmente borrachas o si en realidad hacen graffiti.
Es decir: el graffiti se desarrolla … como todo. Cambia, hay subidas y bajadas, nuevos y viejos escritores, tendencias y tradiciones. Pero para ser honesto: No soy tan fan de esta forma de Graffiti. Pero esto es lo de siempre: una cuestión de gusto! Lo principal es el respeto. Y un montón de estos críos de la nueva escuela no hacen eso. Y por eso van generando algunos conflictos en todas partes y crean problemas dentro de la escena del graffiti. Así que no tiene nada de sentido.
Since around 7 years I live near Basel/Switzerland – home of the graffiti pioneer and all time hero DARE (R.I.P.). The trackside here are world famous. Lots of really big names painted here. It`s around 3km of full color pieces on 2 or three levels. No more free space.
In the last years (after Dare`s Death) some things changed a bit. There is more and more of the so called `Anti Style` in the city. Sometimes you can not divide it the tags and bombings are from kids who use the can for the first time, from totally drunken people or if it`s actually graffiti.
I mean: graffiti develops…like everything. It changes, there are ups and downs, new and old, trends and traditions. But to be honest: I`m not that fan of this way of graff. But it`s as always: a matter of taste! The main thing is RESPECT your next. And lots of these newschoolers don`t do this. And so here and there develop some problems and trouble within the graffiti scene. That`s not the sense.
