¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
BANE significa maldición o maleficio, en español probablemente dirías «maleficio». Estuve 14 años adicto a las drogas y me recuerda de dónde vengo y a dónde no quiero volver nunca más.
BANE means curse or hex, in spanish you would probably say “maleficio.” I was 14 years drug addicted and it reminds me where I come from and where I never want to go back.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
De niño crecí en un ambiente de hip-hop. Así que la música rap, el breakdance y el graffiti siempre me han inspirado. Pero entonces, vino un descanso de 14 años. Caí en las drogas y me volví adicto. Con 28 años fui condenado a prisión por más de tres años. Afortunadamente, el tribunal convirtió mi sentencia en rehabilitación y terapia a largo plazo. En 2012, cuando todavía estaba en terapia, participé en un concurso de graffiti. Pinté un pez y gané la batalla. Este fue el momento en el que pude visualizar mi futuro. Solo quería pintar paredes grandes.
As a kid I grew up in a hip-hop environment. So rap music, breakdance and graffiti has always inspired. But then, there came a 14-year-break. I fell into drugs and was addicted to it. With 28 years I was sentenced to prison for more than three years. Fortunately, the tribunal turned my sentence into a rehab and long-term therapy. In 2012 when I was still in therapy, I participated in a graffiti competition. I painted a fish and won the battle. This was the moment where I could visualize my future. I just wanted to paint big walls.

What is your style?
Me he especializado en arte fotorrealista. El concepto comienza con una sesión de fotos que creo yo mismo. Siempre hay una historia que quiero contar. A menudo me inspiro en las personas que me rodean, en los lugares que visito en todo el mundo y en la naturaleza.
I have specialized in photorealistic art. The concept starts with a photo shooting which I create by myself. There is always a story I want to tell. Often I get inspired by the people around me, by the places I visit around the world and by nature.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza fue pintada en los años 90 debajo de un puente. En aquel entonces, ot era la típica letra de graffiti. Sin embargo, rápidamente me di cuenta de que me atraía más la interacción de luces y sombras, por eso cambié las letras tridimensionales en una etapa temprana. Hoy, me he alejado completamente de las letras.
My very first piece was painted in the 90s under a bridge. Back then, ot was typica graffiti lettering. However, I quickly realized that I was more drawn to the interplay of light and shadow- that’s why I switched ti three-dimensional letters at an early stage. Today, I have completely moved away from letters.
