Where does your pseudonym come from?

Mi apodo de la infancia es VERY, lo cual está bien porque es fácil de recordar.

My childhood nick name is VERY, which is nice because it’s easy to remember.

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Empecé mi carrera de DJ en 1995 y vi la película «WILD STYLE». Salí a bombardear esa misma noche yo solo y en aquella época no había escritores.

I started a DJ career in 1995 and saw the movie «WILD STYLE”. I went out bombing that very night by myself and at that time, there were no writers.

 

 

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

Muchas líneas rectas. Creo que me han influido varias personas.  Lo que vi y experimenté cuando fui a San Francisco en 1999 ha dejado una influencia duradera en mi estilo de graffiti.

A lot of straight lines. I think I have been influenced by various people.  What I saw and experienced when I went to San Francisco in 1999 has left a lasting influence in my style of graffiti.

El graffiti es tan interesante porque te conecta con amigos y amigos de amigos.

Graffiti is so interesting because it connects you to friends and friends of friends.

 

 

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Mi primera obra la pinte en 1996 en una pared de un aparcamiento de bicicletas junto a una estación cercana. La «V» de VERY la tomé de VIRUS, que aparecía en muchas revistas de la época.

Y llegó el día, en 2006, en que pude pintar junto a VIRUS en Nueva York. Por cierto, aquella primera pieza de 1996 había permanecido hasta más o menos 2020.

Cuando estaba desarrollando mi estilo al principio, no había muchos estilos originales en Japón. La mayoría se limitaba a tomar estilos de lo que era popular en Nueva York o Los Ángeles. Me sorprendió y me dio envidia la libertad y originalidad de lo que veía en San Francisco. Desde entonces, sólo buscaba estilos distintos y locos en las revistas. De todos, los estilos de las revistas checas de finales de los 90 eran los más locos y esos han influido en las líneas que tengo ahora.

Viajé por Europa del Este y aprendí a crear líneas y bordes. Además, seguí actualizando mi estilo con los consejos de mis amigos yankees de mi crew. Lo que tengo ahora es la acumulación de todas las etapas y experiencias.

My first piece was on a wall in a bicycle parking lot by a station near by back in 1996. The “V” of VERY was taken from VIRUS which appeared in many magazines back i the day.

And the day came in 2006 when I got to paint together with VIRUS in New York City. By the way, that first piece in 1996 had remained until 2020ish.

When I was developing my style at the beginning, there weren’t many original styles in Japan. Most just took styles from what was popular in New York or Los Angeles. I was blown away with and envious of the freedom and originality of what I saw in San Francisco. Since, I just looked for distinct and crazy styles in magazines. Of all, the styles in late 90’s Czech magazines were the craziest and those have influenced the lines I have now.

I traveled around Eastern Europe and learned how to create lines and border lines. In addition, I continued to update my style with the advice of my American crew friends. What I have now is the accumulation of all the stages and experiences.

What is your crew?

Actualmente represento a 6 crews principales.

En primer lugar, HS crew hecho con «QP» en 1999, que tiene 6 escritores y todos activos por separado.

246 crew, creada por «WANT», incluye miembros de Tokio, Taipei, EE.UU. y México.

Conocí y me hice amigo de un escritor estadounidense, KURE, y entré en la crew NR en 2006.  NR es principalmente un grupo de San Diego, pero también cuenta con escritores de Canadá y Japón.

EDC es una crew originaria de Nagoya, que incluye miembros de Osaka y Tokio.

M2D crew de Fukuoka que tiene miembros de Corea también.

KDG de China, con miembros de toda China. Creo que soy el único miembro japonés, viajo a menudo a China.

I represent 6 main crews at the moment.

First, HS crew made with “QP” in 1999, which has 6 writers and all separately active.

246 crew, made by “WANT”, includes members from Tokyo, Taipei, the US and Mexico.

I met and became friends with an American writer, KURE, and entered the NR crew in 2006.  NR is mainly a San Diego crew but consists of writers from Canada and Japan as well.

EDC crew originated in Nagoya, which includes members from Osaka and Tokyo.

M2D crew from Fukuoka which has members from Korea as well.

KDG of China which includes members from all over China. I think I am the only Japanese member. As a result, I often travel to China.

And finally, anything you want to say?

Quiero ir al extranjero a pintar lo antes posible.

Pasear por los callejones de países extranjeros, comer comida local y taggin. Sólo quiero hacer lo que hacía normalmente antes.

I want to go abroad to paint as soon as possible.

Walking in the back alleys of foreign countries, eating local food and taggin. I just want to do what I was normally doing before.
