¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
La M y, sobre todo, la S y la E son mis letras favoritas. Luego mezclé estas 3 letras y añadí otra vocal para obtener una firma/palabra fluida, en mi caso una I (aunque no me gusta mucho esta letra). Me gusta el sonido fluido y suave de mi tag. No tiene letras »duras» como la K o la R. Pero (tristemente) no tiene un significado real. He estado pintando Sime desde el verano de 2019. Sólo el número 317 significa algo. Empecé con el graffiti en marzo de 2017, o en el 3er mes de (20)17.
M, and especially S and E are my favorite letters. I then mixed up these 3 letters and added another vowel to get a fluent tag/word, in my case an I (although I don’t really like this letter). I like the fluent/smooth sound of my tag. It has no ‘’hard’’ letters like a K or a R in it. But it (sadly) has no real meaning. I have been painting Sime since Summer 2019. Only the number 317 means something. I began with graffiti in march 2017, or in the 3rd month of (20)17.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Siempre me ha gustado dibujar y hacer bocetos. En el colegio siempre era el chico que pintaba los títulos de los carteles, y recuerdo que ya entonces me daba cuenta de que algunas letras se veían torcidas si las pintabas de cierta manera (las erres a menudo tenían un aspecto raro, ya que la estructura de la letra era incorrecta).
A los 12 años empecé a dibujar más a menudo, sobre todo algunos personajes manga, aunque nunca había visto anime ni leído manga.
A los 14 años empecé a escuchar rap alemán y pasaba a diario por delante de una pequeña línea de tren. Eso fue lo que me motivó a iniciarme en el graffiti, además de cierta inspiración en Internet.
Siempre me han gustado las composiciones de formas en general y, para mí, las letras son un poco como los personajes (de manga), pero con una anatomía más fácil. No quería aprenderme toda la anatomía de los humanos, que es lo que debes hacer si quieres crear personajes de manga. Así que las letras fueron la »Solución» perfecta para mí. La libertad con las formas que tienes cuando haces graffiti era y sigue siendo lo que me mantiene motivado, así como ver el progreso de las letras.
I always liked to draw and sketch. In school I was always the guy who painted the titles of the posters, and I remember that I noticed already back then, that some letters look crooked if you paint them in a certain way (the R’s often had a weird look since the letter structure was wrong).
At the age of 12 I began to draw more often, especially some manga characters, although I’ve never seen an anime or read mangas.
At the age of 14 I began to listen to German rap and I drove by a small train line on a daily basis. That was what motivated me to get started with graffiti, as well as some inspiration on the internet.
I always liked shape compositions in general and for me, letters are a bit like (manga) characters but with an easier Anatomy. I didn’t want to learn the whole anatomy of humans, what you should, if you want to create manga characters. So letters were the perfect ‘’Solution’’ for me. The freedom with shapes you have when you do graffiti was and still is what keeps me motivated as well as seeing the progress of the letters.

What is your style?
Solía centrarme en letras muy clásicas. Las conexiones siempre fueron muy importantes para mí. Mantienen las letras unidas para que no puedas »romper» la pieza. También me gustan las piezas muy equilibradas. Mis piezas casi siempre tienen forma trapezoidal, para que no se caigan.
En las últimas semanas he intentado alejarme un poco de ese enfoque clásico, no porque no me gusten las letras clásicas en general, sino porque me sentía un poco bloqueado y limitado con mis propias letras. Ahora me siento mucho más libre cuando boveteo y veo más oportunidades de mejorar ese estilo.
Además de mi estilo »habitual», hago muchos estilos gráficos, que no tienen mucho en común con las letras de graffiti tradicionales. Me gusta jugar con el espacio negativo y positivo, y estos estilos gráficos son perfectos para ello.
Ahora también hago estilos muy sueltos, en los que todo gira en torno a la diversión. Estos dos estilos son como un hobby de mi hobby y son un cambio agradable a las letras más clásicas que hago.
I used to focus on very classic letters. Connections were always really important for me. They keep the letters together so you can’t ‘’tear’’ the piece. I also like very balanced pieces. My pieces almost always have a trapezoid shape, so they can’t fall over.
For the last few weeks I tried to get a bit away from that classic approach, not because I don’t like classic letters in general but because I felt a bit blocked and limited with my own letters. I feel way more free when I sketch now and I see more opportunities to upgrade that style.
Besides my ‘’usual’’ style I do many graphic styles, which have not much in common with traditional graffiti letters. I like to play around with negative and positive space and these graphic styles are perfect for that.
At the moment I also do some very loose styles, where it’s all about the fun(k). These two style approaches are like a hobby of my hobby and are a nice change to the more classic letters I do.

Sí, me gusta mucho la idea. A menudo sólo se ven las piezas de un escritor, pero rara vez se escuchan los pensamientos que hay detrás de sus letras. Y eso es lo interesante.
Como dijo Spoare153, Internet es genial, si te centras directamente en las letras y no tanto en los bombardeos, ya que los bombardeos son más una cosa local, mientras que los estilos complejos (legales) localmente a menudo no se ven, ya que no son tan visibles como un bombardeo. Con Internet tienes una gran herramienta para hacer estas piezas más visibles para los demás.
Yeah, I really like the idea of it. Often you only see the pieces of a writer but only rarely hear the thoughts behind his/her letters. And that’s the interesting part of it.
As Spoare153 said, the Internet is great, if you put your focus straight on letters and not that much on bombing since bombing is more a local thing while complex (legal) styles locally often won’t be seen since they aren’t that visible as a bombings. With the Internet you have a great tool to make these pieces more visible for others.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Sí lo recuerdo. Creo que fue en la primavera de 2018. Ya me centré en las letras durante alrededor de un año, pero sólo en papel y pensé que podría hacerlo también en una pared, pero era muy malo. Escribí Past, pero sólo para esa pieza. Era una pieza muy pequeña y lo hice todo con una boquilla fat. Me costó mucho y estaba muy frustrado porque era mucho más difícil de lo que pensaba y ya llevaba un año con las letras. Después de eso pinté todo el 2018 sola porque estaba muy mal. No fue hasta el verano de 2019 que entré en contacto con otros escritores. Y hoy en día ya no es tan frustrante hacer una obra pero tampoco tan emocionante ya que no es nada nuevo y más te vale saber lo que haces.
Yeah I remember it. I think it was in the spring of 2018. I already focused on letters for around a year but just on paper and I thought I could do that also on a wall but ofc it was very bad. I wrote Past, but only for that piece. It was a very small piece and I did everything with a fat cap. I struggled a lot and was really frustrated since it was way more difficult than I thought and I was into letters for 1 year already. After that I painted the whole of 2018 alone because I was just too bad. It was not until the summer of 2019 I got in contact with other writers. And ofc nowadays it’s not that frustrating anymore to do a piece but also not that exciting anymore since it’s nothing new and you better know what you’re doing.

No te compares demasiado con otros escritores (y su número de likes y seguidores). Y confía en el proceso, lleva años crear un estilo propio y yo también estoy muy lejos de ese punto. Pero eso es lo que me mantiene motivado.

Don’t compare yourself too much with other writers (and their numbers of likes and followers). And trust the process, It takes years to create an own style and I’m very far away from that point as well. But that’s what keeps me motivated.
