¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Mi apodo es Mezzo, y como tu sabes viene de una traducción italiana de ‘mitad’. mis trabajos en la mayor parte reflejan una dualidad en este mundo, donde encuentro a mi mismo algún lugar a medias. Además siempre intento el significado de oro donde se puede encontrar mis piezas en diferentes lugares, ambos en mi trabajo y en vida. Lo que también puede ser explicado en mi nombre artístico. Así que no son un puñado de letras por lo que tienen detrás la misma filosofía.
My pseudonym is Mezzo, and as you know from Italian it translates as “middle”. My artworks in most cases reflect a duality of this world, where I find myself somewhere in between. In addition, I always try to find the “golden mean” (which is always in different places) both in my work and in life, which is also can be the explanation of my artistic name. So it’s not just a bunch of letters and have some philosophy behind.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Es un poco difícil de explicar, pero hay un sentimiento profundo interior que te hace hacerlo una y otra vez. Algún deseo constante de traer algo nuevo a la realidad cotidiana. En cuanto a la inspiración, puede ser cualquier cosa, cualquier manifestación de la vida, diversos procesos que tienen lugar tanto fuera como dentro de mí, la creatividad de otras personas, la dualidad de este mundo, cosas divertidas y terribles, amor y muerte, bien y mal, absolutamente todo. puede inspirarme a crear un nuevo trabajo. Sin embargo, incluso si algo no fue lo más agradable como fuente de inspiración, siempre quiero retratarlo de tal manera que despierte admiración y alegría en el espectador.
It’s kinda hard to explain, but there is some inner deep feeling that makes you do it over and over again. Some constant desire to bring something new into everyday reality. Regarding inspiration, it can be anything, any manifestations of life, various processes taking place both outside and inside me, the creativity of other people, the duality of this world, funny and terrible things, love and death, good and evil, absolutely everything can inspire me to create a new work. Nevertheless, even if something not the most pleasant served as the source of my inspiration, I always want to portray it in such a way as to arouse admiration and joy in the viewer.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Supongo que son gráficos inspirados en cómics/dibujos animados con algunas características únicas como sombreado o gradientes de goteo estilo shagreen. Antes era más caricaturesco y ahora se vuelve más realista, pero aún con líneas angulares un poco suaves. En cuanto a las letras, creo que creé mi propio estilo donde construyo letras a partir de huesos de diferentes esqueletos y veo un gran campo para experimentos aquí. A este estilo lo llamo “Boneletters”. Además, mis trabajos en lienzo son un poco diferentes de lo que hago en las calles. Se mezcla más con estilos y técnicas, generalmente contiene algunos píxeles, fallas y colores vibrantes. También tiene un nombre especial “Pixelpunk”, pero también planeo hacer una gran serie “Boneletters” en un lienzo.
I guess it’s a comic/cartoon inspired graphics with some unique features like hatching or shagreen style dripping gradients. It was more cartoonish before and becomes more realistic now, but still with kinda soft angular lines. Regarding letters I think I created my own style where I constructing letters from bones of different skeletons and I see a big field for experiments here. I call this style “Boneletters”. Also my canvas works is a bit different from what I do on the streets. It more mixing with styles and techniques, usually contains some pixels and glitches and vibrant colors. It also has a special name “Pixelpunk”, but I planning to do big “Boneletters” series on a canvas too.

Creo que es una idea genial, porque gracias a esto mucha gente es capaz de conocer mis trabajos. Todo lo que hago de una manera u otra, lo hago para la gente que no le es indiferente el arte.
I think this is a great idea, because thanks to this, many people will be able to get acquainted with my works. Everything I do, one way or another, I do for people who are not indifferent to art.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Por supuesto, fue en 2009, pinté una cara de gorila de un color en una pared de ladrillos, pero parecía más un boceto que una pieza real. Pero la segunda vez ya intenté pintar un retrato de mujer realista. Desde entonces, mi estilo ha cambiado ligeramente año tras año, pero supongo que en esencia sigue siendo el mismo. Siempre preferí crear personajes que letras, pero hace unos años llegué a mi propia técnica de letras que mencioné antes. Se llama “Boneletters” y para mí es algo entre caracteres y letras, que también reflejan una filosofía de mi seudónimo.
Of course, it was in 2009, I’ve painted a one colored gorilla face on a brick wall, but it was more like a sketch than real piece. But second time I’ve already tried to paint a realistic woman portrait. Since that my style was slightly changed year by year, but I guess core of it is still the same. I always preferred to create a characters than letters, but few years ago I have come to my own letters technique which I mentioned before. It calls “Boneletters” and for me is something between characters and letters, which also reflect a philosophy of my pseudonym.

Tan sólo quiero desear a todo el mundo paz con ellos mismos y que no tengan miedo de crear algún cosa nueva o ser mal entendidos. Todas las cosas que tenemos son la experiencia.
I just want to wish everyone to find peace within themselves, and also not be afraid to create something new or be misunderstood. Everything we have here is just experience.
