¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Originalmente me dedicaba al graffiti, que sigo practicando hoy en día. Escribir mi nombre en tantos lugares y superficies como sea posible sigue siendo mi mayor motivación. Pero también desafiarme a mí mismo para mejorar.

Originally i come from doing graffiti what i still practice till today. So writing my name on so many places and surfaces as possible is still my biggest motivation. But also challenging myself to get better.

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

No tengo un estilo concreto. Busco el reto de crear personajes figurativos con botes de spray. Quiero desarrollar mis habilidades e intentar introducir figuras más realistas y reconocibles en mis obras (de graffiti). Es un nuevo nivel de creatividad para mí que requiere más habilidades y expresión.

I don’t have a particular style. I search the challenge of creating figurative characters with spray cans. I want to develop my skills and try to introduce more realistic and recognizable figures into my (graffiti) works. It’s a new level of creativity for me that requires additional skills and expression.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

En otoño de 1994, con 14 años, pinté mi primer graffiti en un edificio abandonado. El edificio estaba habitado por muchos yonquis y punkis, y nos aventuramos a subir al último piso. Los cuatro nos quedamos allí y rociamos las paredes de esta antigua oficina. Decidí escribir «Larry», inspirado por mi admiración por Larry Johnson, de los Charlotte Hornets en aquella época.

El entorno se caracterizaba por un olor a moho, voces constantes y el tintineo de los yonquis, lo que hacía que el ambiente estuviera aún más cargado.
Mi estilo entonces era bastante sencillo, con sólo dos tonos diferentes de azul y un contorno negro. Al principio probé técnicas de difuminado, pero fracasé estrepitosamente. Me centraba sobre todo en los contornos y las sombras, mientras intentaba orientarme en el mundo del graffiti. Esta primera experiencia con el graffiti no sólo fue formativa desde el punto de vista artístico, sino que también estuvo marcada por el entorno y las circunstancias, que hicieron del graffiti una experiencia única.

In the fall of 1994, at the age of 14, I sprayed my first graffiti in an abandoned building. The building was inhabited by many junkies and punks, and we ventured up to the top floor. The four of us stood there and sprayed the walls of this former office. I decided to write «Larry», inspired by my admiration for Larry Johnson of the Charlotte Hornets at that time.

The surroundings were characterized by a mouldy smell, constant voices and the clinking of junkies, which made the atmosphere even more charged.
My style back then was pretty simple, with just two different shades of blue and a black outline. I tried fading techniques early on, but it failed miserably. My focus was mainly on outlines and shadows, while I tried to orient myself in the world of graffiti art. This first graffiti experience was not only artistically formative, but also shaped by the environment and circumstances that made spraying a unique experience.
