¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Simplemente me gustó el nombre y las letras. Ahora se que tiene un significado en español pero no lo sabia cuando elegi el nombre jajaja. Pero me gusta es genial.
I just liked the name and the letters. Now I know it have a meaning in Spanish but I didn’t knew it when I choose the name hahaha. But I like it its cool.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Empecé a hacer graffiti cuando tenía 12 años. Por aquel entonces, el hermano mayor de un buen amigo estaba de viaje y trajo algunos libros de graffiti cuando volvió. Eran libros como subway art y cosas así. Nos enseñó los libros y nos enganchamos directamente. Así que empezamos con los dibujos. Él tenía algunos conocimientos sobre la escena del hip hop y el graffiti porque era DJ en un grupo local de hip hop llamado FSP. Luego reconocimos más y más piezas en nuestro barrio y en la ciudad. Creo que en aquella época encontré algo que me gustaba hacer y no se me daba demasiado mal. En todo lo demás era muy malo, como en los deportes y la escuela. Así que encontré lo mío y quería mejorar. Ésa era mi motivación.
I started graffiti when I was 12 years old. Back then, the older brother of a good friend was traveling and brought some graffiti books when he came back. It was books like subway art and stuff like this. He showed us the books and we was directly hooked. So we started with drawings. He had some knowledge about the hip hop and graffiti scene because he was a DJ in a local hip hop group called FSP. Then we recognized more and more pieces in our neighborhood and the city. I think at that time I just found something that I liked to do and I was not too bad in it. In Everything else I was really bad, like sports and school 🙂 So I found my thing and wanted to improve. that was my motivation.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Mi estilo de letras es un estilo semi salvaje, diría yo. Trato de hacer que los estilos puros de las letras parezcan agresivos en lugar de hacer una letra de aspecto «normal» con muchos elementos salvajes alrededor. Mis letras tienen un máximo de 2-3 elementos y tienen que verse bien por sí mismas. Sin elementos ni otras letras alrededor. Eso es lo más importante para mí. El estilo puro lo es todo.
Mi estilo esta probablemente influenciado por todo lo que vi hasta que empece con el graffiti. Como los cómics de los 90, los dibujos animados, el anime japonés de los 80 como Akira, los gráficos de monopatín, los estampados de la ropa de hip hop… cosas así. Pero muy pronto tuve una visión clara de cómo tenía que ser un personaje de graffiti para mí.
Cuando miro a mis primeros personajes, ya tienen las mismas formas de ojos, cejas, nariz y boca. Llevo trabajando en este estilo desde entonces. Todo lo que hago hoy es una evolución de mis primeros personajes. Sigo intentando encontrar las formas y proporciones perfectas. Son más de 30 años. Nunca acabará.
My Lettering Style is a semi wild style I would say. I try to make the pure styles of the letters look aggressive instead of making a „normal“ looking letter with a lot wild elements around. My letters have maximum 2-3 elements and they have to look good by themselves. Without elements and other letters around. Thats most important for me. The pure style is everything.
My Character Style is probably influenced by everything I saw till I started graffiti. Like 90‘s comics, cartoons, 80’s Japanese anime like Akira, skateboard graphics, prints on hip hop clothing. stuff like that. But pretty early I had a clear vision on how a graffiti character have to look like for me.
When I look at my first characters they already have kind of the same shapes of the eyes and eyebrows, similar nose and mouth shapes. I’m working on this style since. Everything I do today is an evolution of my first characters. Still try to find the perfect shapes and proportions. It is over 30years. It will never end!.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Sí, lo sé. Estaba en un lugar ilegal. Pero lo pintamos al mediodía, justo después del colegio. Teníamos unas latas de mierda. Éramos tres tipos pintando una pieza. La palabra era JIVE, porque había una marca llamada fresh jive, así que elegimos esta palabra. La pieza parecía una mierda.
Empecé como todo el mundo, como un toyaco sangriento. Esto debe ser en 1993. Me gustaba la acción y la adrenalina pero no me gustaba nada el resultado. Así que empecé a practicar más en papel antes de hacer mi segunda pieza.
Yes i do. It was on an illegal spot. But we painted it in the middle of the day, right after school. We had some shitty cans. We was three guys painted one piece. The word was JIVE, because there was a brand called fresh jive, so we choose this word. The piece looked like shit.
I started like everyone else, as a bloody toy. this must be in 1993. I liked the action and the adrenaline but didn’t liked the result at all. So I started to practice more on paper before I did my second piece.

Gracias a mi ciudad natal, Bremen. Empezar a hacer graffiti en Bremen a principios de los 90 fue genial. Aprendí mucho. Cosas buenas y malas. También saludos a mis colegas de mi crew. Fundamos ABS Crew en 1998 y seguimos dando caña. Y gracias a ti por el interés y el apoyo.
