¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

Al principio era joven y quería un nombre que sonara bien, aunque hoy no me parece nada bien. Pero me quedé con él porque me gustaban las letras y Wayne es un nombre muy básico y existe el dicho «Wayne sabe…» por aquello de «a quién le importa». Y después de pensar en cambiar mi nombre cuando ya lo había pintado durante un par de años, pensé: ¿a quién le importa el nombre si comunico a través de mi estilo? Y así siguió siendo Wayne hasta hoy.

At first i was young and wanted a name that sounds cool, although i don’t find it cool at all today. But i sticked to it because i liked the letters and Wayne is a name that’s very basic and there is the saying: “Wayne knows..” for like “who cares”. And after thinking about changing my name after i already painted it for a couple of years i thought: who cares about the name if i communicate though my style? And so it stayed Wayne until today.

 

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

El graffiti empezó muy pronto en mi ciudad natal, así que en los años 90 las calles estaban llenas de tags y bombardeos y había algunos escritores que ponían el nivel muy alto con estilos y personajes. Así que cuando éramos niños de 10 años influenciados por la cultura del hip hop, yo y mi crewhomie WORS compramos nuestras primeras latas y quisimos formar parte de ella. Y así empezó.

Graffiti started very early in my hometown so in the 90’s the streets were full of tags throws and bombings and there were some writers that put the level really high with styles and characters. So as we were 10 year old kids influenced by the hip hop culture, me and my crewhomie WORS bought our first cans and wanted to be part of it. And so it took of.

Me siento honrado por tu interés en mi trabajo y creo que es importante que haya otros medios además de instagram hoy en día.

I feel honoured for your interest in my work and i think it’s important that there are other mediums than instagram these days.

 

 

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza? 

Do you remember the first piece?

Hice mi primera pieza junto a mi colega cuando éramos niños de 10 años e hicimos una pieza de DOC-plata con un personaje al lado un miércoles por la tarde en un colegio al lado de nuestro barrio. El graffiti me ha dado mucho a lo largo de los años y hoy en día es mi mayor válvula de escape de la vida cotidiana.

I did my first piece together with my homie when we were 10 year old kids and did a DOC-silverpiece with a character next to it on an wednesday afternoon at a school next to our neighbourhood. Graffiti gave me a lot through the years and nowadays it’s my biggest valve from everyday life.

 

 

¿Cuál es tu crew? 

What is your crew?

Mi crew se llama HGK y se refiere originalmente a la calle en la que crecimos, pero se nos ocurrieron muchas variaciones que pueden significar esas letras. Es algo más que un grupo de escritores, ya que muchos de nosotros nos conocemos desde que éramos niños.

My crew is called HGK and refers originally to the street we grew up on, but we came up with many variations that those letters can mean. It’s more than just a graffiti crew as lots of us have known each other since we were kids.
