¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?

What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?

Cuando me mudé a Québec en 2007, conocí a la crew de FMR y me contaron mucho sobre la historia del graffiti y sobre las letras. En mis primeros años pintando, estaba realmente obsesionado con los tags, las pompas y petarlo, pero siempre tuve respeto por la forma más elaborada del graffiti. Solo quería asegurarme de tener una estructura sólida de letras antes de comenzar con cosas más complejas …

When I moved to Québec in 2007 I met the crew FMR and they taugh me a lot about the history of graffiti and about the letters. In my first years of writing, I was really obsessed with tag and throw-ups and burners, but I always had respect for the more elaborated form of graffiti. I just wanted to be sure I had a solid letter structure before starting more complex stuffs…

 

 

¿Qué tratas de decir con tus graffitis?

What do you try to say with your graffiti?

Creo que realmente no tengo un mensaje detrás de esas letras. Es solo mi nombre y se trata de hacer graffiti en sí mismo.

I think i don’t really have a message behind those letters. It’s only my name and it’s more about the graffiti in itself.

 

 

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

Tengo muchas influencias diferentes que me inspiraron en el desarrollo de mi propio estilo. Cuando comencé, solía estar más influenciado por el estilo clásico de París y Nueva York. Creo que ahora estoy más buscando la originalidad y el toque personal. Todavía está evolucionando, pero si tuviera que describir mi investigación actual, es un híbrido entre la estructura de letras clásica de Nueva York y las inspiraciones, más los dibujos animados y gráficos de la nueva generación.

I have many different influences who inspired me into the development of my own style. When I started, I used to be more influenced by the classic style of Paris and New York. I think now I’m more looking for originality and personal twist. It’s still evolving, but if I had to describe my present research, It’s an hybrid between the classic New York letter structure and the inspirations more cartoons and graphics from the new generation.

What do you think about the idea of us publishing your graffiti on our web “elrincondelasboquillas.com”?

Viajé a España durante 25 días en enero, por lo que es muy agradable recibir comentarios de la comunidad española del graffiti. Siento que ahora tengo una mejor visión de la escena y estoy realmente impresionado por los artistas que he visto. ¡Son tantos los escritores buenos que tenéis allí!

I travelled in Spain for 25 days in January so it’s really pleasant to have some feedbacks from the Spanish graffiti community. I feel like now I have a better visión of the scene there and I’m really impressed by the artists I’ve seen. They are so many good writers there!

 

 

¿Donde te gustaría pintar?

Where do you like to paint?

Definitivamente podría decir que tengo una preferencia por la pared virgen, simplemente hace que sea más fácil dejar que la letra fluya. Para mí, el spot juega un papel muy importante en el resultado final. Cada vez que voy a un nuevo lugar abandonado, analizo cada pared para ver cuál es mi favorita.

I could definitely say that I have a preference for virgin wall, it just makes it easier to let the letter flow. For me the spot plays a really important role in the final result. Every time I go to a new abandoned place, I analyse every wall to see which one is my favorite.

 

 

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti que te mantiene haciendolo?

What do you like the most about graffiti that keeps you doing it?

Creo que mi primera motivación para pintar es divertirme y disfrutar el momento. Pero, el graffiti también es una investigación sobre estilos y letras y necesita seguir evolucionando. A veces, siento que repito porque pinto mucho. Pero también aprendí muchas cosas de esas repeticiones y cada vez tengo más confianza, es realmente motivador.

I think my first motivation to paint is to have fun and enjoy the moment. But, graffiti is also a research about styles and letters and it need to keep evolving. Sometimes, I feel like I’m repeating cause I paint a lot. But i also learned so many things from those repetitions and I get more confident every time, it’s really motivating.

 

 

¿Cuál es tu crew?

What is your crew?

Pinto 203, es una crew canadiense con sede principal en Montreal, Sherbrooke y Québec. Somos 20 artistas de diferentes disciplinas (graffiti, tatuaje, mural, ilustración, etc.) que evolucionaron alrededor del graffiti. Algunos de ellos ya no pintan, pero somos una gran familia y tratamos de cuidarnos como debe ser. Es realmente inspirador evolucionar con un grupo de artistas así. Todos nos ayudamos unos a otros para ser más productivos y pintar más y más. 

I write 203 it’s a Canadian crew principally based in Montréal, Sherbrooke and Québec. We are 20 artists from different discipline ( graffiti, tattoo, mural, illustration, etc.) who evolved around graffiti. Some of them don’t paint anymore, but we are a big family and we try to take care of each other as it should be. It’s really inspiring to evolve with a group of artist like that. We all pushing on each other to be more productive and to paint more and more.
