Awshit -

In the beginning, my nickname when I first started doing graffiti was “aws” which was an abbreviation of my real name. As time went by, I expanded it into “awshit”.

“Awshit” is a word that comes out from someone’s when they see something “wow” or astonishing to them. And that’s the expression I hope people will have when they see my work on the streets.

Al principio, cuando empecé a hacer graffitis, mi apodo era «aws», que era la abreviatura de mi nombre real. Con el paso del tiempo, lo amplié a «awshit».

«Awshit» es una palabra que se le escapa a alguien cuando ve algo que le sorprende o le deja boquiabierto. Y esa es la expresión que espero que tenga la gente cuando vea mi trabajo en las calles.

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Lo que me motiva a pintar es simplemente mi afición y mi amor por el dibujo desde la escuela primaria, que ha continuado hasta ahora.

What motivates me to paint is purely my hobby and my love for drawing since elementary school, which has continued until now.

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del arte urbano y lo que menos?

What do you like most about street art and what do you like least?

Establecer conexiones con otros artistas del arte urbano, visitar diferentes regiones o países con artistas locales solo para compartir, intercambiar ideas y dejar mi huella en los lugares que visito es una satisfacción en sí misma. Siento que no hay nada que no me guste de este ambiente.

Building connections among fellow street art artists, visiting different regions or countries with local artists just to share, exchange ideas, and leave my mark in the places I visit is a satisfaction of its own. I feel there is nothing that I dislike about this scene.

Es una muy buena idea dar a conocer al público la existencia de este artista, ya que podría convertirse en una referencia para otros artistas o incluso en una motivación para las personas que están empezando a introducirse en el mundo del arte urbano.

It’s a very good idea to let the audience know that this artist exists, and it might become a reference for fellow artists or even a motivation for people who are just starting to get into the street art scene.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Por supuesto que lo recuerdo muy bien. Fue cuando estaba en el instituto (alrededor de 2011). Hice mi primera letra de graffiti en mi ciudad natal, justo en la pared del patio trasero. Compré la pintura en aerosol que pude porque aún no tenía dinero, los colores eran solo blanco y negro.

La diferencia entre mi estilo de entonces y el de ahora es que hoy en día me centro solo en crear personajes, porque me di cuenta de que no se me da bien hacer líneas limpias, jajaja.

Of course I remember it very well. It was when I was in junior high school (around 2011). I made my first graffiti letter in my hometown, right on the backyard wall. I bought whatever spray paint I could afford because I didn’t have money yet, the colors were only black and white.

The difference between my style back then and now is that today I focus only on creating characters, because I realized I’m not good at making clean lines, hahaha.
