Why is your tag Tones?
Cuando empecé a pintar graffiti solía pintar otros nombres, entonces tenía un amigo que escribió Tones. Era mayor y era muy bueno en el graffiti. Él fue el que me puso en el juego. Después de un rato cambió su tag y me dio el nombre de Tones porque me gustaba.
When I first started doing graffiti I used to write other names. Back then I had a friend who wrote Tones. He was older and he was really good at graffit. He was the one that put me into the game. Afer a while he changed his tag and gave Tones to me because I liked it.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?
What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?
No sabía qué era el graffiti cuando comencé. Dos amigos del colegio me enseñaron algunas cosas y me pusieron en este juego. Comencé a hacer sólo bocetos .. Después de algunos años alrededor del año 2006 vi a un amigo pintar una pieza y pensé que quería hacerlo .. Así que compré algunas latas y pinté una pieza. Después de eso realmente me gustó la emoción de estar fuera por la noche con los amigos y realmente me gustó el hecho de que estaba escribiendo mi nombre en todas partes y que la gente era capaz de verlo ..
I didn’t know what graffiti was back then when I started. Two friends from school showed me some stuff and put me into this game. I started doing only sketches.. After some years around 2006 I saw a friend painting a piece and I thought that I wanted to do it to.. So I bought some cans and painted a piece. After that I really liked the thrill of being out at night with friends bombing and really liked the fact that I was writing my name everywhere and people were able to see it..
¿Qué tratas de decir con tus graffitis?
What do you try to say with your graffiti?
Nada específico. Sólo trato de dar a conocer mi nombre y mi estilo. Después de todo eso es de lo que se trata el graffiti ..
Nothing specific. I just try to make my name and my style known. After all that’s what graffiti is all about..
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Describiría mi estilo como la escritura básica del graffiti (la mayor parte del tiempo) mezclada con efectos y colores que no están relacionados del todo con el graffiti e intento incorporarlos en él.
I would describe my style as basic graffiti lettering (most of the time) mixed with effects and colors that are not all graffiti related and I try to embed them into it.

I think is a great opportunity to share my work and my thoughts with people around the world and that is a good thing.
¿Puedes hablarnos del graffiti en tu ciudad?
Can you talk us about the graffiti in your city?
La escena de graffiti en mi ciudad solía ser fuerte. Tuvimos muchos escritores buenos pero después de los años muchos pararon y menos escritores surgieron. Así que después de algunos años todo se redujo. En este punto hay algunos escritores que están produciendo un buen trabajo de manera constante. Se puede ver un montón de escritores jóvenes bombardeando y no cuidando la calidad, por lo que se puede ver un montón de graffiti en Atenas, pero no tan bueno. Pero después de algunos años también se detienen. No puedo culparlos porque hoy en día, con la crisis financiera aquí, les resulta un poco difícil pintar a un ritmo constante. Por otro lado, debido a la crisis y todo, la gente no se preocupa mucho por el graffiti y se puede pintar casi en todas partes y nadie te molestará .. Muchos escritores extranjeros también visitan Atenas hoy en día para pintar ..
The graffiti scene in my city used to be strong. We had so many good writers but after the years many stopped and less writers emerged. So after some years the whole thing declined. At this point there are a few writers that are producing good work on a constant rate. You can see a lot of young writers bombing and not caring about quality, so you can see a lot of graffiti in Athens but not that good. But after some years they stop too. I can’t blame them because nowadays, with the financial crisis here, is a bit difficult for them to paint on a constant rate. On the other hand because of the crisis and everything, people don’t care much about graffiti and you can paint almost everywhere and nobody will bother you.. Many foreign writers also visit Athens nowadays to paint..

What is your real job?
Soy un diseñador gráfico pero también hago otros proyectos que tienen que ver con la tipografía o pintura con aerosoles o murales tal vez .. Me gusta hacer muchas cosas creativas. No creo que se pueda vivir haciendo graffiti puro como lo conocemos (sólo estilos y letras en la pared) .. Tiene que ser algo más. Algo relacionado con el graffiti. Puedes hacer lienzos o murales u otras cosas relacionadas con el graffiti y sí, así podrás vivir de eso por qué no ..
I am a graphic designer but I also do other projects that have to do with typography or painting something with sprays or murals maybe.. I like to do multiple creative things. I don’t hink that you can live out of doing pure graffiti as we know it (only styles and letters on the wall).. It has to be something else. Something graffiti related. You can do canvases or murals or other graffiti related stuff and yeah you can live out of that why not..
