Why is your artistic name kst?
Kst se convirtió en el diminutivo de castor. Apodo que me gané en el colegio por tener un envidioso conjunto de dientes grandes y blancos jaja.
Kst became a short name for beaver animal. A nickname I got in my school for having an envious set of enormous white teeth haha.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un muralista?
What motivated you to get started being a muralist?
Yo me gradué de la universidad como Arquitecto Urbanista. Esto me deja un amor grande por el cuidado de la urbe, la ciudad. Pero claro para poder ejercer como urbanista necesariamente hay que trabajar para el estado y eso en Ecuador es corrupción de la más pura. Así que el Street art o el mural me permiten en cierto nivel intervenir la urbe para bien. Para mi un mural es tan importante como los basureros, los bancos, arboles y farolas de la calle. Un mural es un foco que aclara y mejora la experiencia al caminar en la ciudad.
I graduated from University as an Urban Architect. This aspect gave me with a great love of caring for the city. But of course, in order to work as an urban planner, one must necessarily work for the state, and that in Ecuador is a corruption of the purest kind. So, street art or murals allow me to intervene in the city. For me a mural is as important as the garbage cans, the trees and the street lights. A mural is a focus that clarifies and improves the experience of walking in the city.

What do you try to say with your artworks?
Aunque me considero muy versátil en cuanto a técnica y concepto. Siempre recurro a rescatar la importancia de nuestra espiritualidad interior. Somos mas que rostros y hay un universo enorme y vivo pasando dentro de nosotros que es lo que realmente nos une con todos.
Although I consider myself very versatile in terms of technique and concept. I always resort to rescuing the importance of our inner spirituality. We are more than faces and there is a huge and living universe going on inside us which is what really unites us all.

What is your style?
Una mezcla de figurativo con comic. Un porcentaje pequeño de abstracto y mucho color.
A mixture of figurative and comic. A small percentage of abstract and a lot of color.

Cuéntanos sobre tu primera pieza
Tell us about the first piece you did
Mi primera pieza fue hace más de 4 años. En diciembre 27 del 2015. Aun no trabajaba y estaba por graduarme de la Universidad. Con los regalos de navidad me compre mi set de pintura y mis primeros aerosoles. La Pared era alta y ambiciosa. Estaba ubicada en una plaza publica perteneciente a una empresa de cines. Pedi permiso con boceto en mano. Madrugue y me demore 11 horas!. Ahora lo haría en 3 horas máximo. Fue increíble. Tanto en ese momento como ahora. El mural es un desfogue enorme de ansias, de ganas locas de poner pintura. El papel o los lienzos se quedaron cortos desde ese momento.
My first piece was over four years ago. On December 27, 2015. I wasn’t working yet and I was about to graduate from college. With the Christmas gifts I bought my paint set and my first spray cans. The Wall was tall and ambitious. It was located in a public square belonging to a movie company. I asked for permission with a sketch in hand. I got up early and it took me 11 hours! Now I would do it in 3 hours maximum. It was incredible. Both then and now. The mural is a huge release of craving, of crazy desire to put paint. The paper or the canvases fell short from that moment on.
