¿Por qué tu tag es kapi?

Why is “KAPI” your tag ?

Es un mote que tenía justo cuando empecé a bailar break en 1984. No se exactamente porqué pero alguien me llamaba así.
Cuando empecé a pintar sabiendo lo que hacía en 1986 pensé que debía seguir con el mismo pseudónimo.

It is an alias that i had just when i began to dance break in 1984. I don’t know exactly why, but somebody call me this way.
When i began to paint knowing what i was doing in 1986 i thought that i should go on with the same pseudonime.

¿Qué fue lo que te motivo para coger un spray y ponerte a pintar en la calle?

What did you drive to catch a spray and get to work in the streets?

La información. Eran años en los cuales valorábamos mucho tener algo de info (fotos, música o textos sobre todo). En navidad de 1985 me regalaron el libro Subway Art y esto fue el detonante. Por fin entendí el graffiti más allá de las películas dónde lo había visto como BeatStreet.

Information. Then we value so much having any information ( photos,music or texts over all). At christmas in 1985 i was given the book “subway art “ and this was the detonant. At last i understood graffiti beyond the films where i had seen as Beat Street.

¿Cuál es tu estilo? What is your style?

Ahora me gusta practicar el WildStyle. El estilo desarrollado a partir del estilo original de los metros de NY de los años 70 (Kase 2, PartOne, etc). Aunque antes dibujaba muchos personajes también.

Nowadays, i like practising wildstyle the style developed from the original style of the NY subways in the seventies (Kase 2, PartOne,etc )Although, before i was drawing a lot of characters too.

Graffiti ¿cantidad o calidad?

Graffiti…..Quantity or Quality?

En ciertas épocas es necesario una cosa y en otras, otra. Depende del momento que cada escritor esté viviendo. Yo ahora valoro las 2 cosas.

Sometimes it’s necessary one thing and other times some different ones. It depends on the moment that each writer is living. Now i value both.

¿Que tratas de decir con tus graffitis?

What you try to say with your graffiti?

Nada. Lo que pinto “soy yo”. No tengo que decirlo, simplemente lo soy.

Nothing. What i paint “ i am “ i don’t have to say it, i am simply that way.

¿Piensas que la sociedad acepta el graffiti?

Do you think that society accepts the graffiti?

Me da igual. La sociedad no tiene que aceptarlo, el graffiti es una parte de ella. Es como la basura, la polución, la desconexión de la naturaleza, por un lado, o la música, la danza, el cine por otro. Todo forma parte de la sociedad porque es la misma sociedad quien permite y ejecuta la creación de todo esto.

I don’t mind , society doesn’t have to accept it, graffiti is a part of it. It’s like rubbish, the polution, the desconexion from nature, on the one hand and dance, cinema or music on the other hand. Everything is inside society because it is the same society which allows and execute the creation everything.

¿Se puede ser un genio al margen del arte establecido?

Can you be genious apart from the established art?

Claro. Los genios por norma general siempre están al margen de lo establecido. Por eso se les etiqueta de genios tiempo después, por su visión y calidad sobrenatural que nadie fue capaz de entender en su momento.

Right. Genious in a general way are always apart from what is established. Because of that they are tagged as genious some time after , due to their vision and overnatural quality that anybody was able to understand then.

¿Que te parece la idea de mostrar tus graffitis en esta web como es “elrincondelasboquillas.com” para que la gente pueda ver lo que haces?

What do you think about the idea of showing your art in this web as “elrincondelasboquillas.com”to let people know about you?

La web es parte de nuestra cultura. Las cosas pasan rápido y en los últimos 15 años hemos visto como la tecnología de la información ha cambiado la manera de relacionarnos entre nosotros. Yo soy de los que cree que la ha mejorado y que el uso de todas las tecnologías va a favor de la humanidad y de la evolución personal. Divulgar graffiti a través de la web no es que simplemente me parezca bien, creo que es síntoma de que el graffiti está vivo. Si hay algo que no esté en la web, es que está condenado a desaparecer.

The web is a part of our culture. Things happen quickly and in the last 15 years. Web have seen how technology of information has changed the way of having relations between us. I am a person who thinks that has improved it and that the use of all technologies will for humanity and personal development. Disseminate graffiti through the web is not just me that feels right, I think is a sign that the graffiti is alive. If there is anything that isn’t on the web, it is doomed to disappear.

¿Cuales son tus escritores favoritos?

What are your favorite graffiti writers?

Siempre es complicado decidir un puñado de nombres pero puedo mencionarte escritores que siempre me gustan, como Seen, Partone, Wish (NY), Dare, Bates, Kane (y los demás escritores de Heidelberg) y podría decirte que tengo la suerte de pertenecer a una escena donde Fasim (Barcelona) o Zeta (Madrid) están cerca.

Always is difficult to say a lot of names but i can writers that always i like them , such as Seen, PartOne, Wish (NY) Dare, Bates ,Kane (And the other writers from Heidelberg) and i could say you that i have lucky to belong to a scene where Fasim (Barcelona) and Zeta (Madrid) are nearly.

¿Qué destacarías del graffiti español?

Can you talk about this as the graffiti in your country?

La verdad que todo. La influencia que tiene el carácter de este país en el modo de entender el graffiti a facilitado que la cosa evoluciona mucho y de muy buenas maneras. El hecho que este país aloje pioneros de todas clases (por ejemplo la creación de Montana Colors como primera marca dedicada al graffiti), es por esto que digo y claro empuja a la escena como una locomotora. Hoy el graffiti español, par mí y por lo que conozco de la escena mundial, está entre los 3 primeros países del mundo. Es difícil de valorar porque el arte no se puede valorar así, pero haciendo relación de calidad y cantidad estoy convencido de ello.

Sincerely everything. The influence of the character of this country in the way of understand graffiti provided that this is evoluting a lot and in a very good way.The fact that this country has lot of pioneers of every types(for example the creation of Montana Colors, the first brand dedicated to graffiti), because of that I say and it push the scene like a locomotive. Today the spanish graffiti, for me and and from what I know of the mundial scene , it′s between the third firtsts countries. It’s difficult to appreciate because the art can not be appreciate like this, but doing a relation between quantity and quality I’m convinced of it.

¿Que cosas o conceptos te definen como persona o artista?

How do you define yourself as an artist?

Primero el “ser persona”. Respeto, tolerancia amor por las cosas, los actos y las personas, saber vivir y dejar vivir. No buscar la felicidad, sentirla en cada momento porque el tiempo pasa y lo estamos perdiendo. Y segundo el Hip Hop me define mucho. Llevo 26 años entendiendo la vida desde esa perspectiva, y casi no conozco otra. EL Hip Hop como elemento cultural me define en gran parte.

In first place «to be person». Respect, tolerance, love of things, events and people, knowing how to live and let live. Do not pursue happiness, to feel at every moment because time is passing and we’re losing.
second Hip Hop culture, define a lot my person . i′ve been 26 years understanding life from that perspective, and barely know each other. Hip Hop as a cultural element largely defines me.

what is your crew?

Actualmente THE CHOSEN FEW. Son todos de Alemania menos yo pero representamos el estilo que a mi más me gusta. Estoy muy contento de pertenecer a ese grupo y me siento muy activo y motivado con ellos.

Nowadays THE CHOSEN FEW. They are all of Germany except me but I represent my favourite style. I am very happy to belong to that group and I am very active and motivated them.
