¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Hola, soy Jnasty. Jnasty era mi nombre artístico como productor y, alrededor de 2004, empecé a experimentar con ese nombre. Antes de eso, escribí como Adept durante unos siete años y, unos años antes, utilicé otros nombres durante mi etapa de aprendizaje.
Wassup I write Jnasty. Jnasty was my producer name and around 2004 I started to experiment using that name. Before that, I wrote Adept for about 7 years and other names in my toy years for a couple years before that.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Me fui de casa siendo muy joven. Cuando era adolescente me quedé sin hogar, y en 1996/1997 empecé a pintar graffitis con una banda a la que me había unido. Poco después, conocí a otros chicos que pintaban graffitis inspirados en el hip hop y no en las pandillas. Me inspiró su habilidad artística y su motivación para pintar en todas partes. A finales de 1997 empecé a ver graffitis en la contraportada de la revista Source. En cuanto vi qué era el estilo writing, me enganché.
I left home at a young age. As a young teen I was homeless, and in 1996/1997 and started tag banging a gang I had joined. Shortly after, I met a couple of other kids that were writing graffiti inspired by hip hop and not gang graffiti. I was inspired by their artistic ability and their motivation to get up everywhere. It was around late 1997 that I started seeing graffiti in the back of Source magazine. Once I saw what style writing was, I was hooked.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?
What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?
Me gusta que el graffiti no tenga reglas en cuanto al estilo. Es una forma de expresión totalmente libre y ofrece infinitas posibilidades en cuanto a estilo, colores y composición. Por eso, siempre aspiraré a convertirme en un maestro de este arte.
No hay mucho que no me guste de él. Si tuviera que decir algo, sería que llegará un día en el que ya no podré pintar y que me gustaría tener más tiempo para pintar. Hasta entonces, seguiré dándolo todo.
I like that graffiti has no rules when it comes to style. It’s a complete self expression and there are endless possibilities when it comes to style, colors and composition. For this reason, I’ll forever chase being a master of this craft.
There’s not much that I don’t like about it. If I had to say one thing, it’s that there will come a day that I won’t be able to paint anymore and that I wish life had more time to paint. Until then, I’ll be rockin.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza fue alrededor de 1997. Era una obra para mi primera crew, R4K. Era un R4K con relleno rojo, contorno dorado y 3D. Tenía medio mundo azul y verde saliendo de la parte superior. Se suponía que significaba R4K en todo el mundo, jejeje. Era un super toy, pero recuerdo que me sentí muy bien después de pintarla.
Mi estilo ha cambiado MUCHO. Está en constante evolución. No quiero estancarme y limitarme a un solo estilo. En los últimos años he llegado a un punto en el que soy capaz de pintar lo que dibujo. Ahora mismo estoy empezando mi viaje en el estilo de escritura y no veo el final.
My first piece was around 1997. It was a piece for my first crew R4K. It was an R4K with red fill and gold outline and 3D. It had a blue and green half world coming out from the top. Was supposed to mean R4K worldwide lol. It was super toy, but I remember feeling so good after painting it.
My style has changed ALOT. It’s forever changing. I don’t want to get stagnant and only rock one style. In the past couple of years I’ve come to a place where I’m able to paint what I draw. I am just now arriving at the beginning of my style writing journey and there’s no end in sight.
