Why is «Nosm» your tag?
Firmo Nosm y represento las crews RAL (Right and left) (Izquierda y Derecha) y Tats Cru. Firmaba Tier cuando empecé, pero me pillaron y tuve que cambiar mi tag. Así que un día en un cementerio en algún lugar de Alemania iba a escribir Nose pero recordé que había un escritor llamado Nose en Munich así que simplemente lo cambie a Nosm creyendo que no volvería a usar ese nombre… pero al final me engancho.
I write Nosm and I represent the crews RAL (Right And Left) and Tats Cru. I used to write Tier when i started but i got busted and had to change my tag .So one day in the yard somewhere in Germany i was going to write Nose but i remembered that there was a writer called Nose in Munich so i just changed it to Nosm not thinking i would use the name again….but i got stuck with it.

What sprays do you use?
Uso todo tipo de botes. Cualquier cosa sobre la que pueda caer en mis manos… eso uso. Por supuesto, uso las marcas de ahora como Montana, MTN, Ironlak y Belton. Pero tambien he usado muchas marcas poco importantes, sobretodo en paises donde no se puede encontrar mucho graffiti. Tienes que usar algo, asi que haces que cualquier cosa funcione.
I use all kinds of spray cans. Whatever I can get my hands on—that’s what I use. Of course I use the current graff-paints like Montana, MTN, Ironlak, and Belton. But I have also used many no-name brands, especially in countries where you won’t find much Graffiti. You gotta use something, so you make whatever’s available work .

What do you try to say with your Graffiti?
Bueno, por supuesto, quiero que mi nombre circule ahí fuera lo máximo posible. Esa es la idea básica del graffiti, lograr la fama. Cuando escribo mi nombre, no hay mucho mensaje bajo el nombre en si mismo, mas que la idea obvia de rebeldía y anarquía de algo hecho ilegalmente. Yo pongo algo mas de mensaje en mi graffiti cuando hago grandes murales.
Well, of course I want to get my name out there as much as possible. That’s the basic idea of Graffiti, to gain fame. When I write my name there isn’t much of a message beyond the name itself, besides the obvious rebellion and anarchy of something done illegally. I put more of a message into my Graffiti when I do large murals.

Siempre es bueno utilizar todas las herramientas que te sean posibles para la publicidad. Hoy en día, no solo consigues ver graffiti en las calles, sino también a través de revistas o del Internet, con sus miles de webs y blogs que documentan el graffiti.
Using any possible tools for publicity is always good. Nowadays, you dont only see graffiti on streets, but also through magazines or the Internet, with its thousands of webs and blogs that speak about graffiti.
¿Qué fue lo que te motivó para coger un spray y ponerte a pintar en la calle?
What made you grab a spray can and start painting on the streets?
Empecé haciendo Graffitis en 1988 con mi hermano gemelo «HOW» y nuestros amigos en Duesseldorf, Alemania. Estábamos firmando y haciendo throw ups, nosotros no sabiamos mucho sobre hacer piezas hasta unos años más tarde. Era algo más que hacer en una ciudad donde la mayoría de los niños se dedicaban a las drogas y a la delincuencia.
Comenzamos a pintar trenes y paredes por todos los lugares, y pronto la gente empezó a preguntarnos si queríamos pintar para ellos. Comenzamos a pintar tiendas de ropa, discotecas, y casas particulares, lo que convirtió nuestra afición a ser un trabajo que pudimos vivir de ello. Cuando nosotros conocímos a «tats Cru» en 1997, combinamos nuestros conocimientos y los llevamos a un nivel completamente diferente, comenzamos a trabajar con ellos de una manera muy profesional y empezamos a hacer trabajos para las empresas más importantes del mundo.
I started doing Graffiti in 1988 with my twin brother «HOW» and our friends in Duesseldorf, Germany. We were just tagging and doing throw ups, we didn’t know much about doing pieces until a few years later. It was just something else to do in a town where most kids were doing drugs and crime.
We started painting trains and walls all over the place, and soon people started to ask us if we would paint for them. We started out painting clothing stores, discotechs, and private houses, which turned our hobby into a job we were able to live off of. When we met «Tats Cru» in 1997, we combined our knowledge and took it to a whole different level—we started to work with them in a very professional way and began doing work for major companies throughout the world.
Graffiti….. ¿Cantidad o Calidad?

Necesito las dos. Es un equilibrio entre las dos que me llena de satisfacción cuando hago Graffiti. Me encanta la sensación de hacer una tonelada de «throw ups»en una sola noche o pintar un montón de trenes, pero al mismo tiempo, me encanta hacer un mural elaborado con muchos detalles. Así que hago todo ello, y me mantengo ocupado con lo mejor de ambos mundos.
I need them both. It’s a balance between both that gives me satisfaction when I do Graffiti. I love the feeling of doing a ton of «throw ups» in one night or painting a bunch of trains, but at the same time, I love doing an elaborate mural with many details. So I do them all, and keep myself busy with the best of both worlds.
¿Nos podrías dar algún consejo para ser igual de bueno que tu?
Could you give us a piece of advice to be as good as you?
El principal consejo que puedo darte es practicar mucho y mirar lo de tu alrededor, lo que hacen otros, y usarlo para inspirarse.
The main advice I can give you is to practice a lot and look at what you see around you, what others are doing, and use that to get inspired.
¿Qué es lo que te gusta de graffiti que te mantiene escribiendo?
What do you like the most about graffiti that keeps you doing it?
He estado haciendolo durante más de 20 años, y no puedo imaginarme la vida sin el. Además es como me gano la vida, el graffiti es mi estilo de vida.
I have been doing it for more than 20 years now, and I can’t imagine life without it. Besides it being how I make my living, graffiti is my lifestyle.
¿Qué estilo utilizas?
What is the style you use?
Yo uso muchos estilos diferentes. Solía pintar mucho de 3D wildstyle en los años 90, entonces empecé a hacer piezas más 2D. Lo que me gusta, lo hago. Este año, por ejemplo, HOW y yo decidimos pintar 100 estilos de fuentes. Era algo nuevo para hacer, y nos encantó la forma en que nuestros nombres se veían tan diferente de las cosas usuales que hacemos. Se trata de reinventarse y de atreverse a ser diferente.
I use many different styles. I used to paint a lot of 3D wildstyle back in the ’90s, then I started doing more 2D pieces. Whatever pleases me, I do. This year for example, HOW and I decided to paint 100 blockbusters/font styles. It was something new to do, and we loved the way our names looked so different from the usual stuff we do. It’s all about reinventing yourself and daring to be different.
¿Piensas que las boquillas influyen a la hora de hacer graffiti?
Do you think that caps influde on the way of making a graffiti?
Creo que los diferentes tipos de boquillas disponibles pueden ayudarte a pintar una pieza más limpia y más fina. Pero si tu no tienes estilo, puedes utilizar cualquier boquilla por ahí y tu obra todavía va a parecer una mierda. Las boquillas son para la técnica, pero el estilo sale de tu imaginación y no se puede comprar en ninguna tienda de graffiti.
I think that the different kinds of caps available can help you to paint a cleaner and finer piece. But if you don’t have style, you can use any cap out there and your piece is still going to look like shit. Caps are for technique, but the style comes out of your imagination—and you can’t buy that on any online graffiti shop.

What do you think of graffiti on trains?
Es la verdadera forma del graffiti. El Graffiti en los trenes es lo mejor para mí, aunque la mayoría de piezas que se ven en los trenes no se verían bien en las paredes. Espero que nunca se paré el graffiti en los trenes.
It is the true form of graffiti. Graffiti on trains looks the best to me, even if most pieces you see on trains wouldn’t look good on walls. Graffiti just looks so raw and alive on a train compared to a dead wall. I hope it will never stop.
¿Qué piensas sobre el Graffiti en tu país?
Can you talk about this as the graffiti in your country?
El Graffiti en EE.UU. estaba muy muerto desde hace mucho tiempo. En los años 90, Nueva York fue líder en el graffiti de EE.UU, pero ahora es más de la costa oeste. Muchos estilos nuevos han surgido y el graffiti se ha convertido socialmente mucho más aceptado de lo que era hace 10 años. Ahora todo el mundo muestra graffiti en galerías, tu ves graffiti en vídeos, películas, juegos de ordenador, publicidad, en la ropa, y un sin número de otros lugares. Ahora se ha convertido en la corriente principal y esta perdiendo su tacto como movimiento underground, en mi opinión. Pero esa es la forma que va con todo, así que incluso el graffiti pasa por una evolución, no sé si es bueno o malo todavía.
Graffiti in the USA was very dead for a long time. Back in the ’90s, New York was the leader in USA graffiti, but now it is more the west coast. Many new styles have surfaced and graffiti has become much more socially accepted than it was 10 years ago. Everybody has graffiti shows in galleries now, you see graffiti in videos, movies, computer games, advertising, on clothes, and countless other places. It’s become mainstream now and it’s loosing its touch as an underground movement, in my opinion. But that’s the way it goes with everything, so even graffiti gets to go through an evolution—I just don’t know if it’s good or bad yet.

How much money have you spent in sprays?
Esta es una pregunta difícil de contestar. Sólo diré que en el mes de octubre, (Tats Cru) gastó más de $6000 USD. Por lo tanto hagan los cálculos de cuánto gastamos al año. 🙂
This is a hard question to answer. I’ll just say that in the month of October, we (Tats Cru) spent more than $6000 USD. So you do the math of how much we spend a year. 🙂
