¿Por qué tu tag es Dase?
Why is your tag Dase?
Buena pregunta, empecé con otro tag , porque ya tenia un apodo: Kramyk. Me cansé de la repetición de las «K» y del parecido que tiene esta letra con la «R», que también tenia mi nombre, así que empecé a bocetear abecedarios enteros. Me costó decantarme por tener otro nombre, así que una vez vi que algunas letras me salían mejor y me gustaban más, cree «Dase». Por esos tiempos usaba ambos, pero Kramyk daba muchos problemas a la hora de ser escrito por terceros, así que al final el nuevo nombre se fue apoderando de mi.
Good question.I started with another tag, because I already had an alias: Kramyk. I got bored with the repetition of «K»s and with the similarity with the letter «R», which my name also had, so I started to sketch full alphabets. At first, it was difficult for me to decide another name, but once I saw that I made some letters better and that I liked them more, I created «Dase». By then, I used.
¿Qué fue lo que te impulso a coger un bote y ponerte a pintar en las calles?
What made you grab a spray and start painting on the streets?
Siempre me ha gustado dibujar, a los 11-12 años conocí el rap y con el me fui introduciendo en la movida del hip-hop. Me fascinaba ver miles de graffitis desde la ventanilla del tren. cada vez tenia más ganas de probarlo. No tenia ningún conocimiento sobre el material más adecuado para pintar, hasta que para mi aniversario, un compañero me regalo un par de sprays montana colors(Rojo claro y marrón chocolate) . Con ellos hice mi primer garffiti el 4 de junio del 2006.
I’ve always liked painting. With 11-12 years I started listening to rap music, and with it I started to get into hip-hop culture. I loved seeing thousands of graffiti from behind the train’s window. I was getting more and more anxious to try it. I had no idea about what I could use for painting, until a friend of mine gave me a pair of «montana colors» spray cans (light red and chocolate brown) for my birthday. With them I made my first graffiti, on 4th June 2006.

How does Dase define himself in his way of doing graffiti?
Muy exigente consigo mismo y abierto a probar cosas nuevas. tratando de superarse cada dia en cada obra.
Very exigent with himself, and open minded to try new things, trying to improve in his art each day, with each work.
Graffiti…..¿Calidad o Cantidad?
Graffiti …. Quantity or Quality?
Calidad. aunque estan relacionados, lo suyo es cantidad de calidad. supongo que tanto para ser bueno como para ser reconocido lo ideal es pintar mucho, pero personalmente, prefiero ser bueno que famoso, asi que me decanto por la calidad y si pinto mucho es para mejorar y para saciar la sed de graffiti jaja.
Quality. although they are related, his stuff is quantity of quality. I suposse that the ideal thing to be good and recognized is to paint a lot, but personally, I prefer to be good than famous, so I bet for quality. If I paint a lot is to improve and to satiate my thirst of graffiti haha.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
Pruebo muchas cosas así que hago de todo, desde piezas 2d hasta model pastel y desde personajes comicos hasta hiperrealismo. Lo que más me gusta ahora mismo es el 3d combinado con el hiperrealismo.También tengo algunos bocetos abstractos secretos.
I try a lot of thing so I make a bit of everything, from 2d works to model pastel, and from comical characters to hyperrealism. What I prefer best now is 3d combinated with hyperrealism. I also have some abstract secret sketches.
¿Purismo o nuevas tendencias?
Purism or new tendencies?
Supongo que prefiero las nuevas tendencias ya que dan lugar a nuevos estios y a más personalidades, pero me gusta que se mantenga la esencia del graffiti y se distinga de otras formas de pintura.
I suposse that I prefer new tendencies, they give place to new styles and to more personalities, but I like graffiti’s essence to go on, and to distinguish from other forms of painting.
¿Piensas que la sociedad acepta el graffiti?
Do you think that society accepts graffiti?
Aún no. la gente no sabe o no quiere distinguir una frase protesta hecha con spray de un mural.si más no, eso es lo que demuestran cuando imponen multas a mansalva. de todas formas, cada vez hay más gente que ve el gran potencial del graffiti e incluso lo encarga, así que trabajando duro se puede llegar a vivir de esto.
Not yet. people don’t know or they don’t want to know how to distinguish between a protest sentence made with an spray can and a wall. That is what they demonstrate when they fine everybody that much. Anyway, there is more and more people that see the great graffiti’s potencial, and there’s people that also charge it. So, whith hard work, one can even live of this.

¿Que tratas de decir con tus graffitis?
What do you try to say with your graffiti?
Intento que tengan algun sentido, algunas veces a nivel personal y otras de una forma más general y reivindicativa. Es el caso de los murales del proyecto NOT IN OUR NAME que inicié con Faif. Esos muros trataban de quejarse de una forma no explícita de hechos intolerables en esta sociedad.
por lo general reflejan tanto aquello que me gusta como aquello que no. es divertido ironizar a veces.
I try to make them meaningful, sometimes at a personal level and others at a more general and reivindicativ way. It’s the case of the walls in the NOT IN OUR NAME project, which I started with Faif. Those walls where trying to complain, in a non-explicit way about intolerable facts in this society. In general, they reflect both the things that I like and the ones I don’t. It’s funny to be ironic sometimes.
¿Qué te ha aportado el graffiti en tu vida?
What has brought you graffiti in your life?
El graffiti me ha aportado una nueva visión sobre muchas cosas: la libertad, la sociedad, los sueños etc.
Me hace vivir diferente: me ha hecho ser mas competitivo, he ganado confianza con ello y me he impuesto mas retos. Ademas, me ha hecho conocer a mucha gente, viajar un poco y ganar un poquito de dinero.
Graffiti has given me a new vision of a lot of things: lilberty, society, dreams… it makes me live in a different way: it has made me more competitive, I’ve acquired self-confidence with it and I’ve accepted new challenges. It has also made me meet a lot of people, travel a bit and earn a little bit of money.

What are your favorite writers?
Me gusta mucha gente, no sabría decirte quien es mi favorito. Me gustan, por ejemplo, los escritores de AerosolKids, LoveLetters, Disco Inferno, C3P, 333, y, por supuesto KDS Crew…
I like a lot of people, I couldn’t tell who is my favourite one. I like, for example, writers of AerosolKids, LoveLetters, Disco Inferno, C3P, 333, and, of course, KDS Crew…
