¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Tenía diferentes nombres a principios de los 80. No sabía nada de graffiti. Unos años después, en el 85, vi algo de graffiti, pero nada especial en mi ciudad hasta que terminé en Ámsterdam. Allí vi graffiti de verdad y entonces quise un nombre genial con letras grandes. A un amigo se le ocurrió el nombre Conan. Pensé: «Sí, es un nombre bonito y fuerte». Así fue como empezó. Pude empezar.
I had different names in the early ’80s. I didn’t know anything about graffiti. A few years later, in ’85, I saw some graffiti, but nothing special in my city until I ended up in Amsterdam. There I saw real graffiti and then I wanted a cool name with big letters. A friend of mine came up with the name Conan. I thought, «Yeah, that’s a nice, strong name.» That’s how it started. I was able to get started.

What motivated you to get started painting?
Cuando era joven, unos 12 años, vi a la escoria del fútbol poniendo sus nombres por toda la ciudad. Pensé: «¿Qué es eso? ¿Cómo lo hacen?». Me atrajo mucho. Pensé que era genial verlo y también quise hacer eso. Primero rotuladores. Me hice mayor y empecé a trabajar con aerosoles. firmar era mi pasión. Casi 40 años después, sigue siendo así. Me encanta firmar, el street bombing. También creo que las piezas de Block Buster, de la vieja escuela, son geniales.
When I was young, about 12, I saw football scum putting their names on all over the city. I thought, «What is that? How do they do it?» I was really drawn to it. I thought it was cool to see, and I wanted to do that too. Markers first. As I got older, I started working with aerosols. tagging was my passion. Almost 40 years later, it’s still that way. I love tagging, street bombing. I also think the old-school Block Buster pieces are great.
