Where does your pseudonym come from?
Primero escribí NICES, luego suprimí el NI y añadí el 53, 53 es el número de la primera zona del metro de Rotterdam.
First i wrote NICES, then i dropped the NI and added the 53, 53 is the first zone number of the Rotterdam subway system.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Empecé a firmar en 1983 y a hacer personajes con rotuladores en la calle. Después de ver el docu sobre graffiti Style Wars, a principios de 1986, empecé a utilizar botes de spray y a hacer piezas.
I started tagging in 1983 and doing cartoons with markers on the streets, after seeing the graffiti docu Style Wars, in the beginning of 1986, I started using spray cans and do pieces.

Funk, metal y algunas veces clásico.
Funk, metal and sometimes classical.

Do you remember the first piece?
Sí, en 1986, MAS, en frente de nuestro edificio de la escuela el día en que un maestro que murió fue enterrado, la escuela estaba cerrada ese día. No hay foto. Pintar es pintar, todavía me siento bien después de todos esos años.
Yes, 1986, MAS, on front our school building on the day a teacher who died was buried, the school was closed that day. No picture. Painting is painting, it still feels good after all those years.
