Why is your tag Brave?
En los años 90 estaba en una misión de bombing con mi colega Clip, y había estado probando con diferentes nombres en aquel momento. Acababa de ver la película de kung fu «Brave Archer» y me sugirió que probara Brave ese día. Lo hice, me gustaron las letras pero no el nombre, así que pensé que lo usaría hasta que encontrara algo mejor. ¡Aquí estoy, después de más de 20 años, todavía lo estoy usando!
Back in the 90’s I was out on a bombing mission with my boy Clip, and had been playing around with different names at the time. He had just seen the kung fu movie “Brave Archer” and suggested I try Brave that day. I did, liked the letters but not the name, so I figured I’d use it until I found something better. Here I am, over 20 years later, still using it!
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?
What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?
Recuerdo que cuando era niño siempre me daba cuenta y me interesaba el graffiti. Recuerdo haber visto Wildstyle y otras películas como Beat Street e intentaba copiar los estilos pero nunca pensaba que sería escritor. Para mí, nunca fue una decisión consciente, solo comencé echando tags por el barrio y se convirtió esto en mi pasión.
I remember as a kid always noticing and being interested in graff. I remember seeing Wildstyle and other movies like Beat Street and trying to copy the styles but never thinking i would be a writer. For me it was never a conscious descision it just started from hitting tags around the neighborhood and evolved into my passion.
¿Qué tratas de decir con tus graffitis?
What do you try to say with your graffiti?
No trato de decir gran cosa, simplemente me divierto con esto y le doy una buena imagen y flow.
Not really trying to say much, just having fun with it and giving it a good look and flow.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
No estoy muy seguro, pero creo que lo describiría como un graffiti clásico con algunas de las flechas y cosas tradicionales, pero al mismo tiempo siempre trato de hacer que mi estilo y mis letras evolucionen para ser únicos y algo mío.
Not really sure but I guess I would describe it as classic graff with some of the traditional arrows and things but at the same time always trying to evolve my style and letters to be unique and my own.
¿Te importaria contarnos como es un día normal en tu vida durante la semana?
Would you mind telling us how is your normal day during the week?
Soy un tio simple, voy a trabajar, voy a casa y cuido de mi familia. y si tengo suerte me hago unos pocos bocetos.
I’m a simple guy. I go to work, go home, and take care of my family. And if I’m lucky, I get a few sketches in.

Es un honor. Pienso que es muy bueno ser entrevistado con mucha gente buena y ser capaz de que mucha más gente vea mis movidas.
I’m honored. I think it’s pretty cool to be featured with a lot of other dope artists and to be able to get my work out to a bigger audience.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
En el año 1992, mi colega Hype me llevó al famoso TDK Wall en San Diego. Recuerdo haber visto piezas de algunos de los reyes de San Diego como Dyse, Persue y Zodak. Recuerdo que estaba nervioso e intimidado, pero emocionado al mismo tiempo. Fue una verdadera mierda lo que hice, pero a partir de ese momento me enganché.
In 1992, my boy Hype took me down to the famous TDK Wall in San Diego. I remember seeing pieces from some of the San Diego Kings such as Dyse, Persue, and Zodak. I remember being nervous and intimidated, but excited at the same time. It was some real toy shit, but from that point on I was hooked.
¿Puedes hablarnos del graffiti en tu ciudad?
Can you talk us about the graffiti in your city?
La escena en mi ciudad es bastante buena. Muchos de los chavales todavía se mantienen activos haciendo buenas piezas, y algunos jóvenes vienen a darle caña. La escena del bombing no es como en los 90, porque San Diego es un destino turístico importante, pero todavía hay mucha gente que aparece.
The scene in my city is pretty good. A lot of the old guys still staying active doing nice pieces, and a few youngsters coming up. The bombing scene isn’t like it was in the 90’s cuz San Diego being such a tourist destination the buff is strong, but still alot of dudes still getting up.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti que te mantiene haciendolo?
What do you like the most about graffiti that keeps you doing it?
Por supuesto, la parte de la creatividad, pero también todo el proceso y la experiencia de ir a diferentes lugares. Conocer y hacer nuevos amigos y la hermandad con tus compañeros de crew es lo que más me gusta. Lo que me mantiene haciéndolo es la sensación de logro cuando se hace esto y el desafío de siempre ser más grande y mejor en el siguiente muro.
Of course the creativity part, but just as much the whole process and experience of goin to different places. Meeting and making new friends and the brotherhood with your crewmates is what I like best. What keeps me doing it is the feeling of accomplishment when done and the challenge of always getting bigger and better on the next one.
