Where does your pseudonym come from?

Cimon es simplemente mi nombre de pila con la primera letra de mi apellido.

Cimon is just my first name combined with the first letter of my last name.

 

 

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Empecé a pintar muy joven, alrededor de los 13 años, justo cuando comencé mis estudios de arte. En esa época, descubrí unas revistas de graffiti que me volaron la cabeza. Además, había muchos lugares abandonados cerca de donde vivía, lo que me motivó aún más. Sentía la necesidad de dar color a todas esas zonas industriales en ruinas donde la naturaleza empezaba poco a poco a recuperar su espacio.

I started painting very young, around the age of 13, just when I began art school. At that time, I came across some graffiti magazines that completely blew my mind. There were also many abandoned places near where I lived, and that really pushed me to bring color to all those industrial ruins where nature was slowly starting to take over again.

 

 

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?

Siempre he visto el graffiti como una forma de compartir y de generar encuentros. Aunque, a veces, algunas de esas personas que uno conoce… no valen mucho la pena, ¡jajaja! Lo que más me atrajo fue el uso del spray como herramienta: tiene un lado salvaje, directo, muy rápido de manejar. Me encanta jugar con colores de diferentes marcas y tratar de encontrar armonías con lo que se tiene a mano.

I’ve always seen graffiti as a way to share and to meet people. Although sometimes, those encounters aren’t really worth it—haha! What drew me in the most was the spray can as a tool: it has a wild, fast, and direct feel to it. I love juggling colors from different brands and trying to find harmony with whatever I have available.

What do you think about the idea of us publishing your artworks on our web?

Me parece una muy buena oportunidad de compartir la evolución de mi trabajo. Durante casi 20 años me enfoqué exclusivamente en las letras, explorando formas, colores y estilos. Pero desde hace un tiempo, me he volcado hacia la geometría abstracta y la búsqueda de equilibrio entre formas imposibles. Publicar mis piezas en elrincondelasboquillas.com me permite mostrar esa transición y conectar con personas que quizás también estén en una etapa de cambio o exploración artística.

I think it’s a great opportunity to share the evolution of my work. For almost 20 years I focused exclusively on letters—exploring forms, colors, and styles. But lately, I’ve turned toward abstract geometry and the search for balance in impossible shapes. Publishing my work on elrincondelasboquillas.com allows me to showcase that transition and connect with people who might also be in a moment of artistic change or exploration.

 

 

 

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Sí, claro. Fue en el andén de la estación de tren que estaba justo detrás de mi escuela en ese momento. La hice una noche, con mucho estrés y nervios, y el estilo… ¡era horrible! Pero aún así, fue el inicio de todo. Esa primera experiencia me marcó y me empujó a seguir, a mejorar y a buscar mi propio camino dentro del graffiti.

Yes, of course. It was on the train platform behind my school at the time. I did it one evening, full of stress and nerves, and the style… was terrible! But still, it was the beginning of everything. That first experience left a mark on me and pushed me to keep going, to improve, and to find my own path in graffiti.
