¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Aunque hoy en día me considero un artista muralista, empecé con el graffiti y, a lo largo de esos años, tuve tres nombres, incluido este. Curiosamente, en cada caso de cambio de nombre, solo me di cuenta a posteriori de que la necesidad instintiva de un nuevo nombre coincidía prácticamente con el hecho de que me tomaba más en serio mi arte y este tipo de actividad. De todos modos, cuando elegí el nombre Taker, sabía que no tenía por qué tener mucha conexión conmigo, porque con el tiempo acabaría gustándome, así que simplemente elegí un nombre que me pareciera molón.
While today I would call myself a mural artist, I started with graffiti, and over those years I had three names, including this one. Interestingly, in each case of a name change, I only realized in hindsight that the instinctive need for a new name pretty much coincided with me taking my art and this kind of activity more seriously. Anyway, by the time I chose the name Taker, I knew that it didn’t necessarily need to have too much of a connection to me, because it would eventually grow on me, so I just chose a name that sounded cool.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Cuando era adolescente, escuchaba mucha música rap y, junto con ver todas las pinturas y graffitis en las calles, era lógico que sintiera curiosidad y quisiera probarlo. Era divertido, pero desde entonces, por supuesto, la motivación ha cambiado mucho.
As a teenager, I listened to a lot of rap music, and that together with seeing all the paintings and tags on the streets, it kind of logically followed that I got curious and wanted to try it. It was fun, but since then, of course, the motivation has become very different.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del muralismo y lo que menos?
What do you like most about street art and what do you like least?
Lo que más me gusta es el acto de crear algo de la nada. Es increíblemente satisfactorio empezar con una pared en blanco, solo una superficie vacía, y luego ver cómo poco a poco se transforma en algo significativo, expresivo y visualmente impactante. Hay una especie de magia en ese proceso, especialmente cuando empieza a cobrar vida e interactuar con su entorno.
Lo que menos me gusta puede ser algo un poco inesperado. Muchas veces, mientras pintaba, cuando accidentalmente cubría un pequeño insecto con pintura, pensaba: si alguien me pregunta qué es lo que más odio de pintar, es esto. Trabajo al aire libre, en su entorno, y probablemente ellos no esperan que su día (y su vida) termine bajo una capa de pintura. Intento tener cuidado, pero a veces sigue ocurriendo. Y cada vez que ocurre, me siento realmente mal.
What I like most is the act of creating something out of nothing. It’s incredibly satisfying to start with a blank wall, just an empty surface, and then slowly see it transform into something meaningful, expressive, and visually impactful. There’s a kind of magic in that process, especially when it starts coming to life and interacting with its surroundings.
What I like least may be something a bit unexpected. So many times while painting, when I accidentally covered a little bug with paint, I thought: if anyone ever asks what I hate most about painting, this is it. I work outdoors, in their environment, and they probably don’t expect their day (and life) to end under a coat of paint. I try to be careful, but it still happens sometimes. And every time it does, it genuinely makes me feel awful.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Pinté una letra en plata en una pared de ladrillo cerca de mi casa, con un spray plata de la marca MTN Hardcore y un spray marrón oscuro Molotow. No hay mucho más que recordar al respecto. Por supuesto, ese hecho molestó al propietario de la pared, y no estoy necesariamente orgulloso de ello (tenía 15 años, hay que tenerlo en cuenta), pero fue un paso hacia quien soy y lo que hago hoy en día. Espero que sean muchos momentos positivos para la gente, que al menos equilibren un poco las cosas.
I painted a chrome letter piece on a brick wall near my home, with a MTN Hardcore chrome, and a dark brown Molotow can. Not much else to remember about it. Of course, that event produced some annoyance to the owner of that wall, I’m not necessarily proud of it (I was 15, mind you), but it was a step to who I am and what I do today. Which is hopefully a lot of positive moments to people, that at least balances out things a bit.
