¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

Me pusieron el nombre de «Sto» cuando estaba en el instituto. Fue un nombre de bulling que me pusieron mis compañeros de colegio. Sólo ellos y yo conocíamos su significado. En aquella época me golpearon e intimidaron durante años, así que estaba acostumbrado a enfrentarlo, hasta que me di cuenta de que ser valiente y confiado era la solución. 

Probar cosas traviesas era una forma de terapia y ese fue el momento en que me acerqué al graffiti. Decidí usar «Sto» como mi apodo, mientras que la adición de «Kemaki» significa «ser demasiado confiado», ya que creo que incluso las cosas malas tienen su lado bueno. 

I got the name “Sto” when I was in high school. It was a bullying name given by my school mates. Just me and them knew about the meaning. At that time I was beaten and intimidated for years so I was used to facing it, until I realized that being brave and confident was the solution. 

Trying naughty things was a form of therapy and that was the time when I approached graffiti. I decided to use “Sto” as my nickname, while the addition of  “Kemaki” means “ to be overconfident” as I believe that even bad things have good sides. 

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Hacer graffiti para mí es una forma de auto reconocimiento e interpretación de la locura que me rodea. Hay un significado personal detrás de mi flow de trabajo y cuando creo una nueva pieza siempre empiezo con una base negra y luego la superpongo con colores vivos y contrastados. 

Me ayuda a recordar que las cosas malas que ocurren en la vida siempre pueden superponerse con el brillo de un poco de fe y coraje. 

Make graffiti  for me is a way of self recognition and interpretation of the craziness around me. There is a personal meaning behind my workflow and when I create a new piece I always start with a black base then overlays it with sharp and contrasting colors. 

It helps to remind me that the bad things that happen in life can always be overlayed with the brightness of a little faith and courage.

What is your style?

Yo lo llamo estilo kemaki una combinación de estilo orgánico y estilo salvaje.

I call it kemaki style a combination of organic style and wild style.

¿Cuando empezaste a pintar graffiti?

When do you started to paint graffiti?

Empecé a hacer graffitis a finales de 2011, lo hice después de graduarme en el instituto, antes solo me gustaba dibujar animales y dinosaurios.  Me empezó a gustar el graffiti cuando vi el libro de mi amigo que estaba lleno de graffitis.  

Incluso ahora, mi estilo sigue cambiando porque tiene un alto nivel de aburrimiento.  Hasta ahora sigo aprendiendo y explorando.

I started to make graffiti at the end of 2011, I did it after graduating from high school, before I just liked to draw animals and dinosaurs.  I started liking graffiti when I saw my friend’s book which was full of graffiti.  

Even now, my style is still changing because it has an acute level of boredom.  I’m still learn and exploring until now.
