Stick

STICK was born as a reaction. While many were looking for epic nicknames, I wanted something that represented my essence: letters with personality, perfect symmetry, and the possibility of integrating characters by replacing vowels. But beyond the form, it was a matter of identity: I wanted a name that wasn’t repeated in other cities, that was mine alone. STICK became my trademark, my territory in the world of graffiti.

STICK nació como una reacción. Mientras muchos buscaban apodos épicos, yo quería algo que representara mi esencia: letras con personalidad, simetría perfecta y la posibilidad de integrar personajes sustituyendo vocales. Pero más allá de la forma, era un tema de identidad: quería un nombre que no se repitiera en otras ciudades, que fuera solo mío. STICK se convirtió en mi sello, mi territorio en el mundo del graffiti.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

¡Como si fuera ayer! Fue hace unos 35 años en las minas de Mazarrón. Un dragón cuyo cuerpo formaba la palabra ‘When?’, con la ‘W’ como cabeza y la ‘N’ como cola. Lo recuerdo con cariño: lleno de ilusión, nervios y ese torpe encanto de quien está empezando.

It feels like yesterday! It was about 35 years ago in the mines of Mazarrón. A dragon whose body formed the word ‘When?’, with the ‘W’ as its head and the ‘N’ as its tail. I remember it fondly: full of excitement, nerves, and that awkward charm of someone who is just starting out.

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Desde niño, mi lenguaje fueron las ilustraciones que llenaban mis cuadernos. El contacto con el graffiti llegó de forma natural, a través del Hip-Hop, una cultura que ya respiraba en otras disciplinas que practicaba. Así que era cuestión de tiempo que agarrara unas latas y llevara esas ilustraciones a los muros. No solía pintar por pintar, lo hacía para expresarme. Fue ahí cuando entendí que mis ilustraciones a través del spray me hacían conectar con el mundo dando vida a mis personajes.

Since I was a child, my language was the illustrations that filled my notebooks. My contact with graffiti came naturally, through hip-hop, a culture that was already present in other disciplines I practiced. So it was only a matter of time before I grabbed some spray cans and took those illustrations to the walls. I didn’t usually paint just for the sake of painting; I did it to express myself. That’s when I understood that my spray-painted illustrations connected me to the world, bringing my characters to life.

 

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?

Lo que más me gusta es todo, sin excepciones. Cada estilo aporta algo único, y esa diversidad es la que enriquece la cultura. Sin variedad, no hay esencia.

Lo que menos me gusta es cuando la competencia sana se vuelve destructiva. El graffiti debería ser un espacio para sumar, no para restar. La envidia no construye, y al final, el arte se trata de crecer juntos, no de pisarse.

What I like most is everything, without exception. Each style brings something unique, and that diversity is what enriches culture. Without variety, there is no essence.

What I like least is when healthy competition becomes destructive. Graffiti should be a place for adding, not subtracting. Envy does not build, and in the end, art is about growing together, not stepping on each other.

Me parece un acierto. No es solo una galería, es un punto de encuentro donde la comunidad se fortalece. Permite conocer a otros artistas, inspirar a los que empiezan y, sobre todo, enriquecer la cultura desde la diversidad. Aquí no solo se muestran piezas; se comparten historias.

I think it’s a great idea. It’s not just a gallery, it’s a meeting place where the community grows stronger. It allows you to meet other artists, inspire those who are just starting out, and, above all, enrich culture through diversity. Here, it’s not just pieces that are displayed; stories are shared.

Si tuviera que añadir algo sería que el graffiti es un grito de rebeldía, un desahogo silencioso de lo que vive, se siente y no se dice ante una sociedad.

Es el mayor museo expuesto en los muros jamás construido. La mayor forma de expresión, llevando las ilustraciones de los cuadernos a las calles.

If I had to add anything, it would be that graffiti is a cry of rebellion, a silent outlet for what one experiences, feels, and does not express to society.

It is the largest museum ever built, displayed on walls. It is the greatest form of expression, bringing illustrations from notebooks to the streets.
