¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Comencé a bombardear cuando era adolescente y tuve muchos nombres diferentes hasta que escribí «SALO» a principios de 2000 y algunas personas escribieron el mismo nombre, así que elegí eliminar la letra «L» y me gustó la originalidad y el desafío de un nombre de 3 letras.
I started bombing as a teenager & had many different names until I wrote “SALO” in early 2000 and a few people wrote the same name so I chose to remove the letter “L” and I liked the originality & challenge of a 3 letter name.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Siempre he estado dibujando desde que era un niño y descubrir la cultura HipHop y ver muchos graffitis a mi alrededor cuando era niño me hizo querer intentarlo.
I have always been drawing ever since I was a child & discovering The HipHop culture as well as seeing a lot of Graffiti around me as a kid made me want to try.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?
What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?
Me encanta formar parte de una cultura separada del mundo convencional, aunque hoy en día sea más popular. También me resulta terapéutico, ya que la vida a veces puede ser bastante agitada. Es mi forma de escapar de este mundo de locura. El anonimato es también una de las razones por las que me encanta escribir, centrándome en la obra, no en el artista.
No me gusta la falta de respeto actual por el código ni la nueva moda de mostrarse en lugar de centrarse en su trabajo (leggings, pantalones cortos, ropa sin una sola mancha de pintura, etc., cosas típicas de los influencers de graffiti).
*I love the fact that we are part of a culture which is separate from the mainstream world even if it is more popular nowadays. I also find it therapeutic as life can be pretty hectic at times. It’s my way to escape from this mad world. The anonymity is also one of the reasons I love writing ,focusing on the artwork,not the artist!
*I’m not a fan of today’s lack of respect for the code and the new craze with people showing themselves rather than focusing on their work (leggings, hot pants, clothes with not a spot of paint on etc.. Graffiti influencer type thing).

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
Mi primera pieza después de dedicarme a las firmas durante unos años fue en Guadalupe, una isla caribeña francesa, en mi antiguo barrio, cuando vivía allí de adolescente. Estaba lejos de Francia, lo que me dio el espacio para hacer lo mío y expresarme lejos de casa y de la escena local de Brest, de donde soy originario. Estaba demasiado ocupado con amigos que no estaban tan interesados en escribir como yo. Tenía a mi primo como vigía. Escribí «CONODOR MASSIF» («Conodor» es el nombre de mi barrio). Recuerdo la emoción y estaba bastante nervioso pensando «¡todos sabrán que lo hice!». A todos les gustó, pero también les gustó la pieza porque nos representaba como comunidad.
Actualmente vivo en otra isla. Me mudé a Jersey en 2002 y comencé a pintar allí en cuanto llegué, primero haciendo varios encargos antes de encontrar y asegurar un gran «muro legal» para poder concentrarme en desarrollar mi estilo y tomarme mi tiempo. El lado «ilegal» de la escena nunca fue mi objetivo; mi meta siempre fue crear letras elegantes, pero también fondos, personajes, etc., detallados, tal como lo vi antes de tomar una lata. Ahora imparto talleres y tengo mi propio negocio de pintura, que financia mi pintura. Hay otros escritores locales y tratamos de pintar tanto como podemos para mantener viva la cultura en esta isla.
My first piece after tagging a few years was in the French Caribbean island called Guadeloupe in my old neighbourhood when I lived there as a teen. I was away from France and it gave me the space to do my own thing and express myself away from home and the local scene over in “Brest” where I’m originally from. I was too busy hanging out with friends who weren’t as interested in writing as I was. I had my cousin as a lookout. I wrote “CONODOR MASSIF” (“Conodor” being the name of my neighbourhood) . I remember the thrill and was pretty nervous thinking “everyones gonna know i did it !” Everyone did but also liked the piece as it represented us as a community.
Nowadays I live on another Island , I moved to Jersey in 2002 and started painting there as soon as i got here doing various commissions at first before finding & securing a large “legal wall” so I can really focus on developing my style and take my time. The “illegal” side of the scene was never my goal ,my aim was always to create stylish letters but also detailed backgrounds, characters etc.. just like what i witnessed before i picked up a can. I now run workshops & have my own painting business which funds my paint. There are a few other local writers and we try to paint as much as possible to keep the culture alive on this Island.
