¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Sencillamente una selección de letras que me gustaban, por su forma y sonoridad. Me gustó mantener la “R” al principio, como mi nombre del DNI.
Simply a selection of letters that I liked, for their shape and sonority. I liked to keep the “R” at the beginning, as my ID name.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
De siempre me ha gustado el dibujo y los comics, en el colegio con unos 10/11 años dieron unos talleres de pintura mural y me gustó mucho la idea de llevar mis dibujos a las paredes. Poco tiempo después, en una visita a mis abuelos en Alicante vi piezas y murales por la zona de la Bola de Oro, me impactó desde el primer momento y decidí investigar que era. Poco a poco descubrí que era graffiti y que había todo un mundo detrás de esos colores.
I have always liked drawing and comics, at school with about 10/11 years gave some mural painting workshops and I really liked the idea of taking my drawings to the walls. Shortly after, on a visit to my grandparents in Alicante I saw pieces and murals in the area of the ‘Bola de Oro’, I was shocked from the first moment and decided to investigate what it was. Little by little I discovered that it was graffiti and that there was a whole world behind those colors.
¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?
What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?
Lo que más, la búsqueda. Tanto de espacios como de estilo, el hecho de intentar avanzar, superarse a uno mismo. Todo lo que envuelve esta cultura de calle y la gente con la que he conectado a lo largo de todos estos años.
Lo que menos, algún pequeño problema que he podido tener por pintar, pero nada grave.
Most of all, the search. Both spaces and style, the fact of trying to move forward, to surpass oneself. Everything that surrounds this street culture and the people with whom I have connected throughout all these years.
The least, some small problems I may have had while painting, but nothing serious.

Es una forma de compartir mi trabajo y mi pensamiento con más gente. Me parece bien.
It’s a way to share my work and my thinking with more people. I’m fine with that.
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
No se si fue la primera exactamente, pero sí una de las primeras. Era en los primeros meses de 1990, hacía frío.
Pinté en la salida de un túnel en Elche, dirección Alicante, en la línea de cercanías Alicante-Murcia. Era una pieza de “Ros” (sin H al final), blanca y negra, con el relleno a pintura plástica. Cada vez que venía el tren, tenía que salir corriendo y esconderme entre los arbustos junto a la vía, fue toda una aventura. Me acompaño durante el proceso un chico de mi barrio que ponía “Tao”. La pieza estuvo ahí durante bastante tiempo.
Años después en esa zona, construyeron un largo muro que se convirtió en un Hall of Fame, donde la crew de Elche hicimos bastantes producciones, fiestas, los primeros murales de Pornostars junto a la vía del tren… sigue habiendo piezas en esa zona.
También ahí es donde falleció mi hermana, por lo que ese espacio es un lugar muy especial para mí.
I don’t know if it was the first one exactly, but it was one of the first. It was in the first months of 1990, it was cold.
I painted at the exit of a tunnel in Elche, direction Alicante, on the Alicante-Murcia commuter line. It was a piece of “Ros” (without H at the end), black and white, with plastic paint filling. Every time the train came, I had to run out and hide in the bushes next to the track, it was quite an adventure. I was accompanied during the process by a boy from my neighborhood who called me “Tao”. The piece stayed there for quite some time.
Years later in that area, they built a long wall that became a Hall of Fame, where the Elche crew did quite a few productions, parties, the first Pornostars murals next to the train tracks… there are still pieces in that area.
That’s also where my sister passed away, so that place is a very special place for me.

El graffiti me ha acompañado la gran parte de mi vida, me he formado tal como soy mediante su práctica. Aunque ahora esté mas centrado en otras inquietudes, siempre me acompañará de una forma u otra.
Graffiti has accompanied me most of my life, I have been formed as I am through its practice. Although now I am more focused on other concerns, it will always accompany me in one way or another.
Graffiti saved my life!
