I’ve had a few pseudonym’s over the years, but Hilt has stuck with me since 2010,
In the UK we use a phrase “To the hilt” which translates to taking things to the maximum Degree.

He tenido varios seudónimos a lo largo de los años, pero Hilt se ha quedado conmigo desde 2010.
En el Reino Unido utilizamos la expresión «To the hilt», que significa llevar las cosas al máximo grado.

What motivated you to get started painting?

Sin duda, la escena del graffiti neoyorquino. En 1984, cuando Subway Art llegó a las librerías del Reino Unido, yo todavía estaba en el colegio, y ese fue mi primer contacto con el mundo del graffiti.
Poco después del lanzamiento del libro, Londres empezó a ganar popularidad con grandes murales.

Esa fue la motivación que mis amigos y yo necesitábamos para coger un bote de spray por primera vez.

Without doubt the New York graffiti scene, I was still at school in 1984 when Subway Art hit the UK shelves, this was my first glimpse into the world of graffiti.
Pretty soon after the release of the book, London was beginning to gain traction with big production wall’s.

This was the motivation me & my friend’s needed to pick up a can for the first time.

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?

Sigo enamorado del graffiti y del arte urbano en general, es un mundo fantástico que sigue generando mucho interés. Sigo pintando con el grupo DPC y con amigos que conozco desde que era adolescente.

Si no fuera por el graffiti, estoy seguro de que ahora estaríamos todos separados.

He conocido a un montón de gente genial a través del arte, y esa es probablemente otra buena razón por la que sigo pintando.

¿Lo que menos me gusta de este mundo? Probablemente que siga estando mal visto.

En general, me gusta pensar que el público en general aprecia el buen arte y le gusta verlo en la calle. Por desgracia, no todo el mundo tiene una mentalidad tan abierta, lo cual es una verdadera lástima.

I’m still in love with graffiti & Street Art as a whole, it’s a great scene with a big buzz still around it, I still paint with the crew DPC & friend’s that I’ve known since I was a teenager,
if it wasn’t for graffiti I’m sure we would have all drifted apart by now.
I’ve met a whole bunch of cool people through the art, that’s probably another good reason I’m

Still painting.
The thing I like least about the Scene? it would have to be the way it’s still frowned upon.
As a whole I like to think the general public appreciate good art, and like to see it on the street, Unfortunately not everyone is so open minded, which is a real shame.

Do you remember the first piece?

Sí, pintado en Eastern Avenue en 1984, más o menos cuando empezamos a pintar algunos túneles de metro locales bajo Eastern. Hoy en día, casi nunca pinto nada ilegal (al menos, no a propósito).

Yes, painted on the Eastern Avenue 1984, around the same time we started painting a few local subways under the Eastern, now day’s I rarely paint any illegal (not knowingly anyway.)
