¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

He adoptado este nombre alrededor de 2013-14 cuando me fascinaron las latas de aerosol fluorescente y la luz negra. Estaba haciendo un montón de piezas y murales con esos colores que «brillan» en la noche y decidí que sonaba bien para mi firma. Otra buena razón fue que me gustó la combinación de letras y especialmente la letra G para el principio.

I have adopted this name around 2013-14 when I got fascinated by the fluorescent spray  cans and blacklight. I was doing a lot of pieces and murals with those colours that “glow” in the night and decided that it sounds nice for my tag. Another good reason was that I enjoyed the letter combination and specially the letter G for the beginning.

 

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Era muy joven, tenía 12 años, cuando vi por primera vez a alguien pintar con sprays. Quise probarlo inmediatamente y unos días después con unos amigos compramos 3-4 botes y empezamos a pintar dentro de edificios abandonados. Era excitante por la técnica en sí y también era duro, así que creo que esos dos factores siguen siendo mi principal motivación para seguir trabajando y construyendo mejores obras.

I was really young – 12 years old when I saw for the first time someone painting with sprays. I wanted to try it immediately and few days afters with some friends we bought 3-4 cans and started to paint inside abandoned buildings. It was excitement from the technique itself and also it was hard, so I believe those two factors are still my main motivation to keep up working and building better works.

 

 

 

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos? 

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?

Lo que más me gusta del graffiti es la libertad de expresión y el hecho de que no haya limitaciones ni reglas estrictas: hay infinitos estilos en todo el mundo y cada día aparecen nuevos, y aún me sorprendo cuando veo algo nuevo y fresco. Lo que menos me gusta es posar y actuar como super estrellas de artistas que se creen algo mejor que los demás.

The most I like about graffiti is the freedom of expression and the fact that there are no limitations and no strict rules – there are infinite styles around the world and new ones appear every day and I still get surprised when I see something new and fresh. The least I like is posing and acting like superstars of artist that believe are something better than the others.

What do you think about the idea of us publishing your artworks on our web «elrincondelasboquillas.com»?

Me gusta que la plataforma y el concepto se centren estrictamente en esta cultura. También me alegra ver que mi trabajo ha sido reconocido y que va a llegar a un público más amplio y probablemente me ponga en contacto con otros artistas interesantes.

I like the platform and the concept to be focused strictly on this culture. I am also happy to see that my work got recognized and going to reach wider audience and probably connect my with other cool artists.

 

 

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Fue en algún momento de la primavera/verano de 2001 y hasta ahora no sabía que tenía que hacer una firma.

Entramos en una casa abandonada y empezamos a pintar. Yo ya sabia que no quería solo firmar la pared, sino hacer «una pieza» así que pinte LIMP BIZKIT en dos filas con colores rojos y después lo contornee con negro. Era una mierda y las líneas muy sueltas, pero aún recuerdo el momento y la pasión que empezó a surgir dentro de mí. Después conocimos estilos, equipos y todo lo que rodeaba a la cultura, pero el primer año copiábamos mucho, porque no sabíamos realmente cómo construir y desarrollar las letras.
El camino ha sido largo y he experimentado con muchos estilos y enfoques diferentes, desde los caracteres y el realismo hasta la abstracción pura. Hoy en día me gustan mucho las letras atrevidas y las formas sólidas con volumen, y disfruto mucho haciendo degradados suaves con tonos vivos.

It was somewhere in the spring/summer of 2001 and so far I didn’t know that I have to make a tag. 

We just went inside this abandoned house close by and started to spray around. I already knew that I don’t want to just tag the wall, but rather make “a piece” so I painted LIMP BIZKIT on two rows with red colours and after that I outlined it with black. It was super shitty and loose lines, but I still remember the moment and the passion it started to build inside myself. After that we got to know about styles, crews and everything around the culture, but we were copying a lot for the first year, because we didn’t actually know how to build and develop the letters.
The journey was long and I have experimented with so many different styles and approaches – from characters and realism to pure abstraction. Nowadays I very much enjoy bold lettering and solid shapes with volume and I really enjoy to make smooth gradients with vivid tones.
