¿De dónde viene tu apodo?
Where does your pseudonym come from?
Mi firma no tiene una historia concreta, cuando empiezas a pintar cambié varios nombres y un día un chico que pintaba en mi barrio me dijo «¿por qué no firmas smog?». A partir de ahí empecé a escribir Smog luego con el tiempo se convirtió en Smok.
My tag doesn’t have a particular history, when you start writing I changed several names and one day a boy who painted in my neighborhood said to me «why don’t you tag smog?» From there I started writing Smog then over time it became Smok.
¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?
What motivated you to get started painting?
Al principio era algo nuevo, me gustaba sentirme diferente y pertenecer a un movimiento que pocos conocían en aquella época (hablo de 1998), luego profundicé y estudié la cultura Hip-Hop y el graffiti y me enamoré totalmente.
Initially it was something new, I liked feeling different and belonging to a movement that few knew at the time (I’m talking about 1998), then I delved deeper and studied Hip-Hop culture and graffiti and I totally fell in love.
¿Cuál es tu estilo?
What is your style?
No me gusta mucho «etiquetar» el estilo, pero creo que podría identificarse como estilo salvaje.
I don’t really like to «label» the style but I think it could be identified as wild style.

La web es ahora parte de la difusión de esta cultura, así que ¡sí! Me parece una iniciativa genial y estimulante poder entrevistar y mostrar las producciones de muchos escritores diferentes de todo el mundo.
The web is now part of the diffusion of this culture, so yes! I find the initiative very cool and stimulating to be able to interview and show the productions of many different writers from all over the world!
¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?
Do you remember the first piece?
¡Claro! ¡Lo recuerdo muy bien! Tenía unos 10 años y estaba de vacaciones con mi familia, ya conocía el graffiti y llevaba un tiempo haciendo bocetos en papel, un día un amigo de la zona compró dos botes de spray (eran los típicos botes que encuentras en la ferretería) uno azul oscuro y otro amarillo. Fuimos a una especie de «anfiteatro» abandonado con paredes de hormigón e hice mi primer grafiti: Escribí KERO (era 1998).
Certain! I remember it very well! I was about 10 years old and I was on holiday with my family, I already knew graffiti and had been sketching on paper for a while, one day a local friend of mine bought two spray cans (they were the usual cans you found at the hardware store) a dark blue and a yellow. We went to a kind of abandoned «amphitheatre» with concrete walls and I did my first graffiti: I wrote KERO (it was 1998).
