¿De dónde viene tu firma?

Where does your pseudonime come from?

Al principio experimenté con diferentes nombres, pero rápidamente elegí el seudónimo SYME. Me gustaron las letras y las puse en una composición «simétrica». Algunos años más tarde empecé a pintar una «R» al final. SYMER. Hasta ahora para las firmas uso SYMER y para los estilos prefiero SYME.

In the beginning I experimented with different names, but quite fast I chose the pseudonym SYME. I liked the letters and put them in a “symetrical” composition. Some years later I started to paint a “R” at the end. SYMER. So far for the tag I use SYMER and for the styles I prefer SYME.

 

 

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a ser un escritor de graffiti?

What motivated you to get started being a graffiti writer?

Cuando era niño, empecé a reconocer los graffitis y me fascinaron las piezas a color. Traté de imitarlas. Así que hice mi primera pieza, eran unas formas abstractas en el garaje de mi padre. Rápidamente entendí que se trataba de letras. Hacia algunos bocetos de vez en cuando, pero no me interesaba mucho. Cuando tenía 15 años, algunos amigos míos también empezaron a hacer graffitis. Hicimos nuestros primeros tags. Me encantaba la acción, la emoción, la compañía y explorar todos los aspectos del graffiti.

When I was a kid, I started to recognize graffitis and was fascinated by the colorful pieces. I tried to imitate them. I sprayed my first piece, which were some abstract forms on the garage of my father. Quite fast I understood that it´s about letters. I sketched a little bit from time to time, but wasn´t serious into it. When I was 15, some friends of mine also started doing graffiti. We did our first bombings. I loved the action, the excitement, the company and to explore all the different aspects of graffiti.

 

 

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

No hay mucha definición la verdad la gente piensa que mi estilo es como un semi wildstyle. siempre intento conseguir darle flow y diversion a lo que hago.

I’m not so much into definition, but I guess people would describe my style as a semi wildstyle. I always try to get some flow and funk into it.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece? 

Pinté mi primera pieza en el año 1996 en el garaje de mi padre. Tres años después hice mis primeras letras de graffiti. Junto con un amigo bombardeé una caseta de electricidad.

Para tener algo de luz, trajimos un mechero con nosotros.le metimos fuego a la pieza dos veces, pero no con estilo. Y ahí empezó todo… Durante un tiempo sólo hice bombing, hasta que hice mis primeras piezas legales.

I painted my first piece in 1996 at the garage of my father. Three years later I did my first graffiti letters. Together with a friend I bombed an electricity house.

To get some light, we brought a lighter with us. We set the piece in fire twice, but not with style. And there it all started… For quite a while it just did bombings, until I did my first legal pieces.

 

 

 

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti que te mantiene haciendolo?

What do you like the most about graffiti that keeps you doing it?

Es la búsqueda del estilo o la pieza perfecta. Hay un sinfín de posibilidades de diseño: desde la forma de las letras, los colores, la superficie o el lugar que elijas para pintar. El proceso de escritura es como una meditación para mí. Me gusta mirar los graffitis y estudiar su historia…

It’s the search for the perfect style or piece. There are endless design possibilities: from the shape of the letters, the colors, the surface or the place you choose to paint. The process of writing is like meditation for me. I enjoy to look at graffitis and study it’s history
