¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

Cuando empecé hace unos 20 años, no hablaba muy bien inglés, ya que no es mi lengua materna, así que pensé que SENER se escribía SINNER. Esta es la historia detrás del nombre.

Back when I started abt 20 years ago I did not speak english very well as it’s not my first language, so I tought SENER was how you spell SINNER. This is the history behind the name.

 

¿Qué te motivó para empezar a pintar?

What motivated you to get started painting?

Desde niño estuve rodeado de graffitis, pero nunca me interesó mucho hacerlo yo mismo.

En algún momento de 2006, un amigo me llevó a pintar y estuvimos pintando juntos durante un tiempo, pero él lo dejó unos meses después y yo seguí por mi cuenta. Después de 2018 tuve unos años más tranquilos por motivos personales, entre ellos la necesidad de labrarme una carrera para poder mantener este estilo de vida de viajar y pintar durante el tiempo que fuera necesario.

I was around graffiti since I was a kid but did not care too much of doing it myself.

Sometime in 2006, a friend took me out one and we painted tags together for some time, then he quit a few months after and I just kept going by myself. I had a fewer calmer years after 2018 for personal reasons including building myself a career to be able to sustain this lifestyle of traveling and painting for as long as it takes.

¿Qué es lo que más te gusta del graffiti y lo que menos?

What do you like most about graffiti and what do you like least?

Me gusta la historia del movimiento, el hecho de que puedas visitar un sitio cutre o ver pasar un tren de mercancías y ver pinturas más bonitas que las que podrías ver en una galería de arte cara. Me gustan los subgéneros dentro de la misma subcultura, el hecho de que tengas que salir y hacer cosas sin importar el tiempo o cualquier otra condición si quieres resultados. El hecho de que, por una vez, el dinero no sea la motivación para hacer algo. El hecho de que, si quieres, puedes evolucionar constantemente… las posibilidades son literalmente infinitas. El hecho de haber conocido a algunos de mis mejores amigos y a artistas y personas realmente increíbles en todo el mundo.

No me gusta cuando no se respeta la historia, normalmente por parte de personas que entran y salen del juego sin intentar mejorar y que solo buscan la sensación de fama rápida y la adrenalina. Que la transmisión de conocimientos a las generaciones más jóvenes de escritores se esté perdiendo ahora debido a las redes sociales y a la falta de interés por aprender de los nuevos escritores.

I like the history of the movement, the fact that you can visit a shitty bendo or watch a freight train pass and see nicer paintings the ones you could see in an expensive art gallery. I like the sub genres within the same subculture, the fact that you have to actually go out and do things regardless of the weather or any other condition if you want results. The fact that for once, money is not the motivation behind doing something. The fact that if you want you can constantly evolve…the possibilities are literally endless. The fact that I met some of my closest friends and really amazing artists and people all over the world. 

I don’t like when history is not respected, usually by people who are just coming in and out of the game without trying to become better at it and are only looking for the feeling of quick fame and an adrenaline rush. That the transfer of knowledge to younger generations of writers is now being lost because of social media and the lack of interest in learning of the new writers.

What do you think about the idea of us publishing your artworks on our web «elrincondelasboquillas.com»?

Creo que es una buena forma de mostrar lo que pinto a una gran comunidad de personas a la vez. Me alegra saber que más gente verá lo que hago y, con suerte, lo apreciará y se dará cuenta del trabajo que hay detrás.

I think it’s a good way to have what i paint shown to a large community of people at once. I’m glad to know that more people will see what I do, and hopefully appreciate it and realise the work I put behind it.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Recuerdo mi primer graffiti. No estoy seguro de cuál fue el primero. Estaba escribiendo otros nombres antes de ponerme a escribir SENER, y no estoy muy seguro de dónde quedaron esas fotos, ¡pero sí tengo la foto de mi primer graffiti SENER, alrededor del verano de 2009!.

I remember my first throwup. I’m not sure about the first piece. I was writing another few names before i get on to write SENER, and i’m not too sure about where those photos went but I do have the photo of my first SENER piece around summer 2009 though!.
