¿De dónde viene tu apodo?

Where does your pseudonym come from?

Es mi nombre real. Nunca llegué a pensar en un apodo/ tag cuando empezar a pintar en la calle como ilustrador que colaboraba con artistas/escritores de graffiti. Sin embargo, mi nombre es bastante inusual, por lo que la gente a menudo piensa que no es mi nombre real.

It is my actual name. I never got round to coming up with a pseudonym/tag name as I came into street painting as an illustrator who collaborates with Graffiti artists/Writers. My name is pretty unusual though so people often think it is not my real name.

What motivated you to get started painting?

Desde que comencé más como ilustrador, estaba acostumbrado a trabajar en tamaño pequeño, por lo que pasar a trabajar a gran escala y hacer que mi trabajo fuera visto me atrajo mucho. Como una forma de que más personas vean mi arte fue una de las razones, pero también usé pintura en aerosol para los colores, la velocidad y el aspecto. Quería ser parte de la escena del graffiti de Bristol y mi amigo Rowdy, que había estado pintando durante mucho tiempo, me invitó y me enseñó a ampliar mi trabajo y usar las pinturas.

From starting out more as an illustrator I was used to working fairly small so moving to working on a large scale and getting my work seen appealed to me a great deal. As a way of having more people see my art was one of the reasons but also using spray paint for the colours, speed and look. I wanted to be part of the Bristol Graffiti scene and my friend Rowdy who had been painting for a long time got me into it, introducing me to scaling up my work and using the paints.

 

 

 

¿Cuál es tu estilo?

What is your style?

He desarrollado un estilo en el que creo criaturas y formas hechas de elementos más pequeños. Estas formas suelen estar basadas en la arquitectura, pero a medida que mi estilo se desarrolló, comencé a incluir otros elementos y formas. Este estilo fue una característica de mis trabajos de ilustración inicialmente y me llevó un tiempo transferirlo a la pintura a gran escala.

I have developed a style where I create creatures and forms made out of smaller elements. These forms are usually architecture based but as my style has developed I’ve started to include other elements and shapes. This style was a feature of my illustration works initially and took me a while to transfer to large scale painting.

¿Te acuerdas de la primera pieza?

Do you remember the first piece?

Recuerdo los primeros que hice a principios de los 2000. Sentí una verdadera oleada de emoción en ese momento al usar los materiales, la escala del trabajo y pintar junto a personas que lo habían estado haciendo durante un tiempo. Creo que algunos de los lugares pintados no estaban claros si eran legales o no. Mi estilo no se parecía en nada a lo que hago ahora, el concepto y el nivel de detalle. Algunas de estas primeras piezas tienen un aspecto que se relaciona con mis trabajos actuales, aunque supongo que así puedes ver el desarrollo.

I remember the first few that I did in the early 2000’s. I felt a real rush of excitement at the time from using the materials, the scale of the work and painting alongside people who had been doing it for a while. I think some of the places painted were not clear if legal or not also? My style was not at all like what I do now, the concept and the detail level. Some of these early piece have a look about them that ties in to my current works though I suppose so you can see the development.

What is your crew?

Estaba en una crew llamada Unwellcome Relatives (Pen, Lokey, Shab, Boswell, Tarks, Cage) que actualmente no está activo. En estos días colaboro con diferentes artistas en las paredes en lugar de estar en una crew como tal. Los artistas incluyen: AcerOne, Sokem, Hemper, Rowdy, Kosc, Minto, Paul Monsters, Hypo, Ments, Ben 1, Zoe Power y FGB.

I was in a crew called Unwellcome Relatives (Pen, Lokey, Shab, Boswell, Tarks, Cage) which isn’t currently active. These days I collaborate with different artists on walls rather than being in a crew as such. Artists include – AcerOne, Sokem, Hemper, Rowdy, Kosc, Minto, Paul Monsters, Hypo, Ments, Ben 1, Zoe Power and FGB.
